Last time I changed a titleid I simply replaced one number in the titleid. Just use HxD (or another hex editor) and replace the titleid with the desired one. Titleids are stored backwards at the offsets listed above in a decrypted exheader. Then repack according to Asia81's guide. Not all games will have both offsets (Mariokart 7 has one of them, but replacing the one still worked)

You understand wrong
Serial = CTR-X-XXXX
UniqueID = 0XXXX
TitleID = 0004000000XXXX00

For example, for Bravely Second, it's:
Serial = CTR-P-BSED
UniqueID = 017BB
TitleID = 000400000017BB00

that really what I want to know is how to change this unique id here

I have successfully installed 2 Mario kart 7's by hex editing the title ID and changing the serial number. The serial number change can be done in the 3ds builder tool.

Edit: make sure that the titleid you use isn't already used by another price of software that you have installed.

I came here to ask if it's possible to change the title ID of a .cia that's already been built. More specifically, I got lazy and instead of going through all the work of making my own FE: (Gay)Fates and just downloaded it since I already own the game and technically that should make me OK. However, I want to change the title ID so I can have both the original game and hack/patched version of it installed at the same time. Is this possible? Or am I going to have to do the entire process of making a .cia with a different title ID myself?

Pretty sure you have to extract the files and rebuild after modifying.

    I haven't been gaming for such a long time. Been mostly busy with sleep, hardware tinkering and checking GBAtemp frequently.

    Hope you've had a good morning.

    It's going alright thanks :) I know what you mean with gaming time. It's precious where I can get it these days.

    There's also this thing where I'm hyperfocused at night and cannot get to sleep.

    @Maximumbeans, I'm doing alright, thanks.

    That must be rough. Productive I'm sure but hard to balance with daily life

    @Maximumbeans, Indeed. I've been working on getting this Infecutus chip to work on my PS2. But after soldering, I realised that a plastic piece was missing from the power ribbon cable to the power and eject buttons.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
    Now I could go with soldering the contacts from the cable to the connector on the mobo, but doesn't sound like a good permanent solution.
  • Maximumbeans @ Maximumbeans:
    Man, that's beyond my brain :rofl: I'm no good with hardware for now. I'd like to get into hardmods in future though
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
    @Maximumbeans, Maybe start practice soldering. Get a cheap-ass soldering iron and follow some good YouTube tutorials.

    Least my experience has gotten better than over a decade ago. My iron would constantly bump into components and break them.
  • Maximumbeans @ Maximumbeans:
    Sounds good. I actually did soldering but like 16 years ago for school so uuuuh probably rusty haha
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
    @Maximumbeans, Same here. I did soldering at school from a teacher who I honestly liked since he had plenty of good electronics experience.

    @Maximumbeans, I had a friend who had a glass chess set for their birthday.

    It was like all clear and fancy. Tbf I'm not too experienced with chess, but would like to learn someday.
