How do I make a SysNand backup if I'm currently on firmware 9.6? I want to downgrade to 9.2, but want to make a backup first.

You'd need a hardmod to do that. Dumping the NAND requires ARM9 to be exploited, and we have no public ARM9 exploit above 9.2 (NTRCardHax doesn't really count yet, for those who might mention it).

Edit: That's slightly mistaken. We have firmlaunchhax up until 9.4, but that still won't help you.

You have to downgrade and then backup.

go ahead and force your 3ds upgrade to 10.6.... redo the upgrade process with the new sysupdater

because you are FK scared of brick your 3ds!!!!
if you failed downgrade from 9.6 to 9.2, and can't even boot up into home menu, force upgrade to 10.6 is your only options.(but, u need game entry for HBL on 10.6)

Taking a backup is always a good idea. Unfortunately, it just isn't possible to get a NAND backup without first getting to 9.2 or having a hardmod. Thankfully, if you are using the correct version of sysUpdater and the right 9.2 update pack, the risk of a hard brick is negligible.

The Sysupdater version you supplied would be the correct version then?
