Hey guys,

My N64 analogue sticks are f'ed up. I decided to start looking into buying new ones but I am completely lost! I'd like to buy one of these 'Gamecube' style analogue sticks. One like these:

I've read some have a sensitivity problem. Who knows where I can buy the improved version?

I could also buy this: http://www.raphnet-tech.com/products/gc_to_n64_adapter/

I find it very expensive, any place with a cheaper version? :P

There are a few alternatives. Currently the best option is to buy this PCB and install it into one of the GC replacement sticks. The PCB fixes the sensitivity problems of the original one and provides better accuracy. I've put together 2 and they're great! A new batch supposedly comes out in march.

The second best sounding alternative is the replacement parts being developed by a developer named Andy who recently achieved a kickstarter goal to produce high quality replacement sticks and bowl for the original control stick. Here's the link to the kickstarter if you want to support it further.

Or, if you don't like the N64 controller, there's the Hori Mini Pad.

Isn't there a version with the PCB pre-installed? :) I actually would like to get rid of the old control stick since I am not trusting it being future proof to be honest. Will the dead-zone actually be a problem for me, a regular player who plays Paper Mario, Zelda and Conker on his N64?

I don't think you'll find that anywhere.

Are you referring to the dead zones present on an unmodded GC replacement? I remember trying the sticks with Zelda prior to modding and found aiming in first person awful, so I'd say yes. As for future proving, that's what the reproduction sticks are intended for.
