I feel like I'm missing a lot. Yes, I heard about downgrading the firmware, but I still don't get the reason why I should downgrade. I have Ninjhax so that's why I didn't want to downgrade...

Speaking of Ninjhax, did the hax have another upgrade or anything?

Don't know how long you were gone, but you can now downgrade to 9.2 from 9.3 to 10.3. Also, we've gotten arm9loader hax to work which gives us many benefits, but you have to downgrade your 9.2 system to 2.1 to get it.

People downgrade to 9.2 so they can use emuNAND. The benefits of emuNAND include the following:
  • Being able to update emuNAND to the latest version (currently 10.6) for online play and eShop access, not to mention new features and game compatibility
  • Being able to keep emuNAND updated, creating a future-proof situation where one has everything without sacrificing any hacks
  • Having a permanent homebrew exploit with the lower sysNAND because sysNAND will never need to be updated
  • Better homebrew compatibility (CIA)
  • Piracy
  • Other things I can't think of right now

"Upgrading" to 9.2 lets you have emuNAND, which means homebrew on the home menu (such as emulators), custom CIA installations (aka pirating), editing saves, plus other sorts of stuff (like custom themes).

As sarkwalvein said, emuNAND is an emulated copy of your sysNAND. Think of it like a virtual machine on your computer. You can do whatever you want to your emuNAND without affecting your sysNAND. For example, I can keep my emuNAND up-to-date and play on it freely while keeping my sysNAND on 9.2 with homebrew entry points. A person could also do things such as patch signature checks on emuNAND, allowing him or her to install pirated games.

Thanks, now I need tutorials to keep up with what I'm doing. It's a lot of work, but...
I messed up my first time installing, and I thought I was toast but eventually I got it right (with all my data intact!). So good luck and read every line of instruction!

This is the guide I used.

If you have access to an entry point like ninjhax and you're on 9.3-10.3, I would use SafeSysUpdater to downgrade to 9.2. Aside from the small yet mentionable brick risk of downgrading, there's no reason not to be on 9.2+emuNAND. It has all of the benefits with none of the downsides.

Once on 9.2, you can pick an emuNAND and install it easily. I recommend this tutorial to install rxTools emuNAND if using an O3DS.

...I guess it's too late for that...
