Well I wanna make this. There is "Brew Man" but other than that, no. Never heard of a CIA Eshop.
It seems pretty easy if a similar app to "Brew Man" was created that had a cia installer as well. I believe the only issue would be the server. AS there are no cia's currently hosted on networks that the 3ds can handle aside from homebrew cias

Just gonna take a wild guess here and say probably.

I don't see it happening for a few reasons though.

1. Unless if it's only for Homebrew cias, it would be illegal. Don't know if people would want to do something like that.

2. Someone would need to host some sort of server to be able to have these CIAs, depending on the circumstance, it won't be cheap.

Hmmm this is an idea I've had for awhile and seems possible. But who would host such a large amount of files.

That too but we could get some Swedish guy to do it. And if we don't make money off of it, we won't get arrested. Sweden + No money made makes a good wall of protection on Piracy.

any idea if the 3ds could handle a p2p network. People can host the cias from personal computers and networks. If enough people did it it could work. but still would be illegal

If we have a server to keep the .cias on, it would be not too hard to create an application that installs an app over the network
Definitely not keeping copyrighted material on it. There's just no need for that. The internet is full of dumps

If you can pay for a server to host the CIA files and upload all of it there, I can make this app for you.

I know it's not needed.

This is my 300th post XD
I don't think so.
The artist possesses "the right to respect for the work," which stipulates that the work cannot be changed or distributed to the public in a manner that is "damaging to the originator's literary or artistic reputation or distinctive character."

Maybe we could have a setup that lets us do it ourselves with free hosts - like a file template that lets us host homebrew CIAs (or warez) ourselves instead of limiting ourselves to one group's server that may end up outdated after time.
Maybe GBATemp's wiki, or github?

Sweden has lower standards on pirating laws (that's how most torrenting/piracy websites stay up) Pirate Bay is located in Sweden, and USA can't touch them. Not only that, if you're not making any money it's hard for you to get arrested.
That's not true. We have fucking IPRED here, which essentially lets copyright holders force information about users from ISPs and shit.

My homebrew downloader will have support for homebrew CIAs, but I doubt anyone will ever make one for installing games, as the servers would probably get taken, down almost immediately by Nintendo.

Stuff like this generally pops up a few times on internet capable homebrew platforms. The problem is it requires a server and needs to be maintained. They usually end up running for a few months then dying. Either the servers go offline, killing the service, or it's not maintained anymore and the versions of the software on there falls behind.
