Ok, so trying to setup my mates 3ds here, and so far everyhting is going fine, except that now when I try to boot RXTools EmuNand (originally made from Gateway) I simply get a black screen. Removing the SD card allows me to boot to sysnand.

The 128 card is legit, as I bought it over the counter from Argos.

What are my options, what can be done, help?

Is menuhax installed? Until you unlink the NNIDs, menuhax is going to apply to the Emunand too, which in my experience will result in a black screen. Try loading the RXtools menu by holding L as it loads, then manually select to boot emunand in the RXtools menu and keep holding the Menuhax override button (whatever you have it set to). See if that lets it load. I doubt it's the SD card.

Is the rxTools folder setup properly? Does it include the firm folder?
Firm folder? I'm not seeing a firm folder.

There's no NNID at all, mate doesn't want one for now. Should I reformat the sysnand just to make sure it's seperated anyway?

Make sure you're following this guide to setup rxTools. It should work just fine with the Gateway emuNAND created previously. You can't just drag the rxTools folder to the SD card. You also need the firm folder in the rxTools folder.

Don't forget to mention that you need the firmware file from that ISO site that is for the 3ds.

RXTools went to boot, and started up MenuHxa again, leading to the lower screen flashing black and red..... I've been doing this for hours and about to snap.

Do you have menuhax installed on your emunand too?
That could be the problem.
Booting emunand makes this one trigger its own menuhax

Firmware.bin is used only by old realeases. You have to download 3.0 beta2 or lastest nightly, unpack it, go into the folder called "tools", double-click on the file called "o3ds_cdn_firm" (if you have an o3ds). A folder called "firm" will be generated. Copy-paste this one into the folder called "rxtools". Place this one into the root of your SD.

you can't set menuhax to autorun with linked nands, you get a black and red flashing screen when emunand tries to boot

try adding stuff to it until it has under 64gb of space free, i have seen people say they have had to do that for the 128gb cards

I'm gonna try making EmuNand all over again, to make sure there is no menuhax on it. Totally fresh. Will also make sure that i do the firm folder thing aswell. Will report back later.

well if menuhax is installed on the sysnand it will just get copied over to the emulated nand. if you want to use menuhax while you set up the emunand dont set it to type 2 until you have set up the emunand removed menuhax from it and unlinked the nands

Or you can just delete the part of the extdata where your emunand stores its theme's imformation
