Hey guys. I was wondering, do You think it would be possible to move an old .sav of Pokemon Red to 3DS Virtual Console? I still have my saved game file from ~15 years ago, when I was a little kid, with my first Pokemon. I always wanted to move them to newer games, and I heard that it would be possible with Pokemon Sun/Moon :).

No way to know yet, but I'll definitely be looking into it.

If the saves are encrypted, it's only a matter of time until someone breaks said encryption.

I had just read about the feature of been able to transfer Pokemon from the original games and instantly thought the same thing.

I got Pokemon Red in January 2000, a few months after it was released here in the UK and still have my original save. I managed to dump my save from the original cartridge back in 2009. It would be awesome to finally trade the Pokemon I caught 16 years ago to a modern version of the game.

Oh. Interesting. I tried using a CIA save data manager (can't remember what it's called) and also svdt. Neither worked. I forgot to try SaveDataFiler. Was the save encrypted?

It was JK's that I tried. It just made an empty folder. Maybe I didn't do it right.
Edit: I didn't do it right. You can use JK's save manager.

I figured it out. I didn't press the right button to confirm I wanted to dump the save in JK's manager. It works with mine. If you need to use SaveDataFiler, the ID for English Yellow is 1712.

Anyone got it working? I've tried dumping it and got 2 files: sav.dat and SecureValue, I tried to inject an old save of mine (looks like it uses the file same estruture) renaming it from xxx.sav to sav.dat and it doesn't worked, I got a corrupted save error from VC. I'm assuming the problem is the SecureValue file, any way to patch it?

If you dumped a save at a certain time, only replaced sav.bin, and didn't open the game until you installed the edited one, the secure value is not your problem; but the most reliable way you can bypass the secure value is by using SaveDataFiler, finding the game in the first tab (as if you were to extract a save), and pressing R+X

If the save comes from an emulator, try to find an "export battery" option in the original emulator!

    well actually
a new console won't do anything right now, because the games are still in development, that's why there are few games being released
