Hey guys. Have been writing some stuff for a video i wanted to do, but then i realised i'm gonna need some gameplay footage for said video xD. Was just wondering if you guys know of any site that puts up gameplay videos or trailers that you can download and use freely in your own videos? (haven't really done any videos using gameplay footage before so this is new territory for me).

Anywhos, any help is apreciated. Thanks guys/gals.

I was wondering rather if there's a site that already puts out gameplay footage of certain games that anyone can use in their on video (instead of having to record all gameplay by myself). Since i'm mostly just gonna use the gameplay for b-rolls anyway.

Unless specified, all content is copyright of the creator. I'm not aware of anyone that creates videos specifically allowed for others to use. But feel free to message any youtubers that have videos that look cool. They may request that you add them to the credits, they may not.

Unless someone has the hookup to some license free stuff, you'll have to ask gameplay footage creators directly.

Yeah that i understand. But using the gamecreators own published gameplay/trailer vids (with your own editing/commentary) should be fine methinks?

Fine how? Plenty of game footage using channels have got various flavours of strikes for no good reason for things they did. If you want to avoid strikes/warnings/detections at all costs then be aware of that. Though if that is a thing then youtube and such are not necessarily the place to be right now.

http://letsplaylist.wikia.com/wiki/"Let's_Play"-friendly_developers_Wiki might be of interest. Combine it with some savegames and cheats if you want later stage footage and you should be good.

Depending upon what you are doing then certain types of commentary might fall under more general fair use laws, probably more likely under education than reporting and I am not so familiar with Swedish IP law.

I do not think there is anything inherently about a trailer that makes it more fair game than other types of footage, doubly so for any music it might feature.

As long as it isn't Nintendo related, i've never heard of devs or publishers getting mad over people making videos with their trailers/footage. Except Nintendo of course.

Frankly you could probably use any video on youtube and I doubt it would be a problem. You could always ask the creator though.

Put in your video description that all intellectual property in the video belongs to the respective owners and that your use of it is covered under Fair Use, that usually holds up, as long as you aren't profiting off of the video

Thanks for the ideas guys, will probably capture a little by myself and maybe use some gameplay footage from the developers own sites and make it clear that i by no means own the property etc.etc.

You're legally protected. But if this is going on youtube, just know that google has been pretty insane with their content protection. Heck, ubisoft got ubisoft videos taken down accidentally :P. And nintendo is doing their own weird thing. The whole thing is something of a moving target, so keep an eye out on how things are going.

Long story short: you're legally safe using trailers, but you're far safer using your own.
