Homebrew It'd be nice to know how to utilize hax 2.6.

It looks the same as the other releases.
We already had a return to home menu option. Press Start on the menu and confirm. It doesn't seem to be any faster this time, so what... changed?

You need the new payload and boot.3dsx
Also, smea said there was bug fixes and you should use it even if you don't want to use the homemenu option

I get that, but what does 2.6 do?
It's the exact same as the other releases.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

I just tried returning to the homebrew menu from HANS and got a freeze.
I'll return back to 2.5.

Start on the menu didn't bring you back to home menu, it rebooted the console.
Rebooting brings you to the menu, hax 2.6 reboots as well.
Actually, when I got the new boot.3dsx, I have folders in my homebrew menu now. How can I get rid if them?
EDIT: looks like a filebrowser now.

Of course rebooting brings you to the menu.. that's a vanilla console 'feature' if you'd even call it that. Previously in Homebrew you would have to reboot the console to go to the home menu. Now it will send you to the home menu without rebooting, meaning emunand users can exit homebrew to the home menu without having to do the boot process all over again..

Yeah.... the thing is, I was explaining to Shadow what you just posted.

He initally said that it didn't bring you to the menu, but that it rebooted. Then I said it's the same thing.
I also said that 2.6 still reboots so it's not much of an improvement.

wtf were you expecting from 2.5 -> 2.6? Dragons coming out of your console?
Well, I was personally hoping for HANS to work with updates so I could use it with Smash. Kinda disappointed that's not the case, but I'll wait until Smea's ready.

Expecting at least one bigger change from 2.5.
For me this release seems to be more buggy. I got two crashes. Also, the B/↓/L/R now sends you to the home menu (I was using HANS) apparently.
I'm assuming that my file got corrupted or something.

It isn't the same thing at all. Rebooting the console (2.5) will re-trigger any pre-home menu hax (a9lh, menuhax). Exiting to the home menu (2.6) will do exactly that - exit to the home menu. Say you have menuhax installed and set up to take you directly to HBL on boot. Rebooting from 2.5 would reboot the console, re-trigger menuhax, and get you back to HBL. On 2.6, exiting will actually take you back to the system home menu.

2.6 still reboots
It doesn't. It exits *hax back to home menu without rebooting.

Rebooting still takes you to the home menu when everything is done.
My system still reboots (menuhax triggers from sysnand), but my boot.3dsx is definitely different. Did something happen during my download? I got the new files from smea's website.

Not if you have menuhax set up.
Oh, yeah. I'm using Menuhax for autoboot, so it loads up emunand eventually. But, you know what I mean

Are you sure you're using *hax 2.6?
I did download the new payload and Homebrew menu from smea's official site yesterday. I assume when it was getting transferred to my SD it was only a partial overwrite... or something. It doesn't add up.
(because now there's a string that determines where you are in the SD card. Which is good. Because we're not locked to the 3DS folder.

When you boot *hax, does it say "*hax 2.6 gamma" at the top of the debug screen?

If you see it retriggering menuhax from sysnand to get back to emunand, than it's not using the exit method but is actually rebooting the console.

I know. I never said it didn't reboot. I said rebooting brings you to the home menu when any of the pre-home menu stuff is cleared.

Well then you're either not running *hax 2.6, or you're using an old version of the homebrew launcher which still uses the old reboot method. You need to verify that you see "*hax 2.6 gamma" while *hax is booting, and update your launcher.
Could you attach or link to a website that has the files available?
