I've been using CFW for over 2 months now. Lately on 3.2 RN I've been noticing my battery dying quicker than usual. I'm not sure if its a CFW thing, but I've conducted a few tests and I feel like I'm on the shorter end of the stick.

* Swapped batteries with my O3DS. Both fully charged, Me and my gf play FF:Explorers and she gets about 4 hrs of gameplay at most and still has 2 bars left. 4hrs in, I'm at red, blinking.
* Swapped batteries again, same story. Even worse when I've put it to sleep, her's lasted 3 days on standby with 3 bars left. Mine barely lasts 1 day on standby lately, and even worse blinking red after a day.

I don't know if its something about RxTools vs ReiNAND, or something might have been overlooked.

Thoughts anyone?

These things would happen to me too even without CFW. I guess it may just be normal battery degradation.
Even if it is, Nintendo tends to make it REALLY difficult to buy their spare parts in asian regions. I have to literally import mine. FML.

For the FF explorers thing, it's a bit strange, but for the sleep mode thing, I remember reading that it's normal, because on emuNAND, the system is constantly writing and reading stuff on the SD card, which is more power consuming that reading and writing to NAND (what a non modded 3DS does).

Wow that seems like a very reasonable explanation to it, I thought my 3DS battery was at it's peak. I used to test it by turning off the WiFI as well but all it did was stretch out the standby mode for like 2 hrs more.

I do wonder though, will arm9hax sort of fix this issue.

Battery technology of today is shit.
The more powerful GPUs and CPUs get and the more features they put in devices the quicker they drain batteries.
hah! True! Its insane how my phone with a 1650 mah battery and the N3DS with a 1750 mah battery, lasts WAY longer than the 3DS on standby. Unless its just Ninty using wooden hardware.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

I think N3DS use more power than O3DS and N3DS battery is more powerful than O3DS one!
Surprisingly it's the same. Both rock a 1750 mAh battery.

Oh I thought you were referring to the XL, Is the N3DS small also CTR 003?

Phone CPUs and GPU's usually use lesser power.
Tho play a 1080p movie on yer phone, bet you it'll die within an hour.

Don't use o3ds batteries on a n3ds. The product code is different for a reason (CTR-003 - KTR-003)
Oh I meant the O3DS XL and the N3DS are the same, CTR-003. They fit and are the exact same specs ( I think )

I read before that one reason for the worse battery life is that when using CFW you're using emuNAND which is on the memory card and the system has to use more power to keep it running during sleep then the internal memory chip would use.

That is one of my reasons for moving to arm9loaderhax which allows a updated sysNAND so I don't have that problem. It just has not been enough time since I swapped the NANDs to know if it worked.

which is ironic because most spare sparts we get are from china lol

That wouldnt make sense as the EMUnand runs off an SD
and the Sysnand Runs off an SD soldered onto the motherboard

They have the same power draw

I figured that was the idea, but in order for CFW to run doesnt it need to initially run off 9.2, I don't know if there's more to it, but I'm sure the higher ups know more to it than we do

Nah you can run it off 4.5 and it will create a 4.5 emunand.

The files i mentioned will work regardless of Emunand FW version.
I know i corrupted my emunand before that was on 9.5 backed up the files above, cloned over my 9.0 Sysnand, Injected files before starting it for the first time.

Asked me to setup my Emunand like i had factory reset it.
Once setup was done I had all my games still and it was still using my set theme, saves worked fine but lost Madeup folders and Badges

Might be off-topic, but would having emunand and letting it sleep a lot make the sd card wear faster, since it's constantly being read/written?
