Pokemon R/B/Y 3DS VC, simply a rom or will they modify it?

Hi Guys,


I want to know what u guys think about the upcoming VC pokemon games.

From the trailer we all know that it will have support for trading using 3DS. If the 3DS trading support is added to the game (which I dont think will be the case) instead of VC emulator then maybe they will do some more fixes/changes?

Think about MissingNo. While many of us loved MissingNo, in reality it is a major bug. Will they consider fixing that? And what about Mew? Will they fix the Mew glitch aswel and include Mew in the game?
Maybe mew underneath the truck

Or am I over thinking all of this and they will simply port the rom and make some modification to the VC, which will result in something many of us with CFW already has.

I thought it was being remade in the style of the original but I hope it is not because there are so many fun glitches to experiment with.

I think that the Emulator(VirtualConsole) Just emulate a link cable

They are just retouching the VC emulator to simulate a link cable, something that has been done for years on PC emulators, hell even Symbian vBoy supported that.
I doubt they'll be doing anything to the rom itself. So move one, nothing to see there.

This is probably the best case scenario to be honest.
If link cable support gets added to the VC emulator, there's a chance we'll be able to make it work with other titles, such as Tetris or Pokemon Gold.

True, I also believe they have done that with other games in mind.

It would have been fun if they modified the games, atleast add mew with its own location.

They might modify the game to fix some glitches, such as the Missingno. glitch and perhaps Glitch City and some of the many oversights the game has (Such as the desynced link battles that can occur). The linking though will probably just use a modified Virtual Console binary.

I don't think Ninty will fix the actual ROM it self.
They just patch in a simulated Link cable.

What about the Pikachu "cry" in pokemon yellow? They also got that fixed. Also emulator or fix in rom?

I wouldn't be surprised if they fixed some of the glitches in the rom itself. But I think the link cable will coded into the VC.

But, if they do modify the rom to fix the glitches, maybe HANS VC injection will work with it and you can inject your own Pokemon R/B/Y into it. Or Dragon Quest Monsters. Or Gold/Silver/Crystal. One can hope.

Well, unless they are remaking the games (which they're not), then we can expect the very least amount of work needed to make it function. These are Gen 1 games, so nothing above gen 1 exists in them, so there won't be trading or injecting anything into them unless it's a full-powered rom hack. It wouldn't be a difficult feat to modify and inject your own Red/Blue/Yellow stuff into it, though...might even be able to find a way to inject an old save from your emulators into it...

I wouldn't expect anything magical...not even graphic improvements...it's not "nostalgic" if they make it better.

But that's just my negative take on the thing...who knows, maybe they'll surprise us

Wasn't there a fan made hack that added Mew under the truck? If some fan can do it by reverse engineering the ROM then I'm sure someone at Nintendo is able to do it as well.

Pokemon is owned by Nintendo, Game Freak, and Creatures. When People talk about Game Freaks, they talk about Pokemon. I don't care for their other games.

My only hope is that they fix some of the glaring bugs, like Focus Energy reducing critical instead of increasing it. Rofl
