Rules are the foundation of a society. Without rules there is nothing but anarchy or dictatorship. Unfortunately, it is not up to the discretion of the mod as to what constitutes as baiting because we have it clearly defined in our forum rules. The amount of real "flaming" that goes on in this forum is beyond ridiculous. Why is this culture of flaming randoms on the 3ds section accepted or even tolerated?

Ive been suspended in the past for undisclosed reasons from GBAtemp,for relentlessly expressing my conviction that every single member on this community deserves to be respected and treated as an equal.Disrespect mostly stems from the patronizing attitude that normal members of the community have on members that just joined,or have questions. Too many people believe that because they hacked their 3ds they are some type of genius and they proceed to get a feeling of superiority out of belittling other members for not having their "knowledge" and treating other members like subordinates instead of friends. This type of behavior cannot be tolerated because it is completely detrimental to the quality of members that want to post threads.

Rules need to be enforced,and we have to set the foot down on the real bad guys and the people that contaminate the culture of the forum. I could be banned today and it would have absolutely no impact on the culture of the forum,of the forums integrity. I push for friendliness at all cost, I just noticed that what is tolerated here is quite frankly outside of the norm even for an internet forum. There are places to trade insults on the internet if that is what floats your boat,however this community is built on gaming.

From the bottom of my heart I love this community and I want this community to thrive. GBAtemp can be a great place for anyone out there that enjoys nintendo games(or just gaming).We just need the staff to show some love and discipline the bad guys that drive the maturity down.

It is possible to take it upstairs and/or have a discussion but things can be both stopped before it gets out of hand or let slide (possibly with an admonishment or a warning to stay on track). It sounds like you are aiming for a strictly defined, letter of the law type affair and this place is not that, I hold that to be a good thing. If you want that I would hope you never go into a) a proper pub, b) any or the so called manual trades or c) any trade that roughly comes under science or engineering.

I have been on the "rivals" as it were ( https://gbatemp.net/threads/does-gbatemp-have-a-rival-forum.355250/page-2#post-4785064 ) and would say if anything they are worse, or at least not some kind of sunshine and rainbows affair as you paint some as (you said se7ensins was a friendly place which led me to wonder how long you spent there, they are good lads though). Equally many of those have gone or declined where GBAtemp is still here so something must be being done right.

I agree the 3ds and wii u (and wii before it) sections could be better... I remember the people asking to how to sell exploits and that decoded the screen protocols. However no games on a system does rather dampen enthusiasm.

Every forum is a dictatorship. No one states it openly though.

All actions, moderation and administration of GBAtemp are decided by the staff only and are not open to debate.

this just seems a bit unneeded because it is common sense to anyone that browses forums that you can get banned for whatever.Some forums even have unban fees lol. I don't believe I flame at all on gbatemp,if I wanted to insult someone I would. I am usually respectful and straight to the point,I don't like my threads derailed but I am in no way offended by anything said or done on this forum. In my opinion it is an annoyance when 90% of the forum population wants to police threads and act like they are staff when in reality the percentage of members that are staff has to be below 0.001% of the overall forum registered accounts.

I went on se7ensins to get help softmodding my xbox when I was 10 or 11(04-05),people always treated me with respect when I asked questions and they always were trying to help out. ps3hax same thing,you can actually ask for help without a single problem. On here,the hacking sections are either wannabe mods or people that believe themselves to be 3ds hacking gods. Every time someone asks a questions 4 people will post read the rules!! or give an answer with an arrogant superiority. It isn't about me being offended,it just bugs me that these behaviors go unpunished and often the innocent man gets the consequence.

I can strongly agree that there are some members who are just downright disrespectful and can't keep their mouths shut, but I think the problem in recent weeks and situations here, is that you might have either:

1) Lashed out because you might have took something someone said the wrong way,
2) Lashed out because someone said something dumb/wrong
3) Lashed out because they flamed/trolled at you first.

And you might not be noticing it. It could be, for some reason, normal to you. But honestly funnystory, I would at least report them first instead of making the situation 10 times worse. And if you notice that the offending content hasn't been removed, maybe the mods are trying to tell you that it wasn't offending at all.

1.I've never took something someone said the wrong way in my entire life because I don't have any neurological disorders that many people on the internet have and I can tell by the way they right if they are trying to be disrespectful or if they mean no harm. In other words,I have cognitive empathy which people with certain mental disorders do not.

2.I usually never lash out,I just give a person a quick fact and reasoning which is usually enough to anger the bully into reporting me.Consequently,I end up suspended but that's mods decision not mine so I don't even think about those suspensions.

3.Here is what usually happens in my honest opinion.On the internet there are many people post on forums,in gaming forums in particular as well as computer forums there seems to be a tendency that a higher percentage of your population will have asperger syndrome diagnoses.What this means is that these people essentially lack social skills and lack cognitive empathy as a result of the developmental disorder. These individuals need expectations of forum behavior put on RULES so they can understand acceptable behaviors. I am not saying this as to disrespect but merely to inform.

Usually the format goes like this,USER A:I am smarter and better than you,you shall bow down to me to get my help USER B:I am sorry! Now this does not create a friendly environment,the only difference between me and user B is that I have a strong sense of self and I understand that accepting bullying only perpetuates more bullying.Most people on GBAtemp(the silent majority) are SCARED to post on the 3ds cfw section because of the bullying that is going on right now.So instead of facing the torment of getting bullied,they try to figure things out themselves and 9/10 end up with a bricked console.Why should someone brick their console over bullies?
