Hacking Weird update nag on 10.5 emunand

For those of you who have gotten used to leaving your 3DS closed on wifi, be aware that I have just gotten the update nag and can only assume 10.6 has arrived.

The Nintendo website says nothing about it though, still has 10.5 as the latest.

Have you installed anything like an older DS whitelist/Bluecard fix? Doing that will also prompt for an update.

Nope. Double check you have or haven't downgraded your Internet Browser, TWL_FIRM, or DS whitelist. If you have, consider spoofing the versions on them to 65535 to avoid nags in the future.

I installed that months ago, and have never received a "false update" prompt before. I can access the badge arcade though, so I assume I jumped the gun. Very weird though to spontaneously get an update nag about something I did a while ago.

Edit: On second thought, I didn't downgrade my emunand's ds whitelist, and I unlinked before downgrading my sysnand via bluecardfix.

Mine does it from time to time after I installed the DS Whitelist on my emuNAND. Updating just updates the list and stops my flashcards from working.

There has to be something you downgraded on your emuNAND for the promote, are you sure you aren't running in sysNAND? I know that's a weird question, but double checking it always the best thing to do.

I can tell by the theme and my ability to access Gateway's multirom menu. I've patched AGB_FIRM for gba games, but I've never heard of this issue before.

I think it's a recent phenomenon; back with 9.7, I think it was, Nintendo started checking for updates for the DS whitelist and a few other things, but didn't actually update them.

O this again we get people making threads saying that a new update is out pretty much every day on here and every time it's because they downgraded the whitelist or downgraded something else can yall stop posting these so called psa threads until you know for certain a new update is out all you do is create a false panic for everyone

While I admit that I've jumped the gun, I have not seen any other similar threads, nor have I heard that downgrading can prompt "false updates". If it is, as you say, so common, perhaps that means such information should be more accessible so that more people become aware of it?

Normally, your best bet to know if it's a legit system upgrade is to either check Nintendo's official site first or check here. They will be listed pretty much as soon as they happen.

I did check there, I swear! But I also checked there when I got an update nag on 10.4, and it hadn't updated to reflect 10.5 but 10.5 did exist at that point, so I've become wary (but at the same time, didn't want to wait because I know how many people are leaving their ds' on in sleep mode now and didn't want everyone to get a nag).

Wow, I'm really striking out tonight! Sorry guys! Although I do think that, if that's the case, this information should be more available. It might help stop the premature panic posts like mine

Edit: Just out of curiosity, does anyone know what might have caused this? I've updated now and GBA games still run (so the patched AGB_FIRM on my emunand wasn't the problem), my ds whitelist is only altered on my sysnand, and I can't think of any other alterations I've made.
