Can I log in with the same Nintendo Eshop account on emunand? Is it the same nintendo network id?

Yes you can log in with the same account, but you'd need to do some work in order to do that.

I have a n3ds downgraded sysnand to 9.2 i have reinand and emunand updated to 10.5.What i want to know is can i buy a gateway 3ds card and have it work out of the box with my setup now or will i need to format everything and start from scratch to install gateway 3ds?

Yes you can use Gateway on ReiNand as they both use the same Emunand.

Why, hello there!

So, I finally took the plunge, downgraded 10.3 to 9.2, installed emunand, unlinked them and now I have my very own hacked 3ds, whee.

So, a couple noobish questions:

1. When I boot into CTRBootManager sometimes it hangs on the yellow screen and I have to restart, I assume this is normal with the current version of the hack?

2. I switched the trigger for the boot manager from holding L to NOT holding L, now I have to press L every time I enter rxTools and afterwards after selecting boot into emuNAND. I read that this can be fixed by switching the theme in emuNAND, but it doesn't do anything. What I want is to NOT press L to boot into the boot manager after turning the 3DS on, but I'd also like to NOT hold L when entering rxTools -> emuNAND. Is this possible?

3. I assumed at first that you install cias in sysNAND and emuNAND serves as your legit OS with eShop and so on, but this does not seem to be the case, as I do everything in emuNAND, and sysNAND seems to be there just for the sake of running the hax on boot-up... or is there something that sysNAND does better in comparison with emuNAND?

4. Also, is there something I have to do to not let Ninny know that I'm messing with my console, or is it safe to just put everything in emuNAND? Also, can I update games that I installed manually through the official update process?

5. Continuing previous question - is there something I need to do to futureproof my CFW against Ninny? Is it safe to update emuNAND whenever a new firmware comes out? (ATM I'm on 10.5 and everything works perfect, eshop included).

6. The first game I installed was japanese Kunio Kun (River City Ransom remake) that I converted from .nds by myself and it works fine, then I tried Tekken USA (my console's region is EUR) and it did not work. Am I correct in assuming that some games still have some kind of region locking and I have to either get my own region's version or a patched cia?

7. And final question: I installed HB Launcher in emuNAND, but it keeps booting into CTRBootManager. I cannot find any file like "hblauncherloader_otherapp_payload_OLD-10-3-0-28-EUR" on the SD card. Any ideas?

1. This is completely normal. It happens sometimes, sometimes not. It's just because of the hack.
2. Sorry, I don't know about rxTools.
3. EmuNAND is basically a copy of sysNAND. There is absolutely nothing sysNAND can do that EmuNAND can't do.
4. Nope, just put everything on EmuNAND and you'll be fine. Even playing online is fine. You can't update through the eshop I think because Nintendo checks if it's legit and it hangs on 99% updating. You can get update CIA's on THAT ISO SITE. However, maybe it's possible when you're linking your nands again, not sure on this though.
4. It's safe to update if the CFW you're using has confirmed it supports up to the latest firmware. For ReiNAND it's 10.5 (that's the only one I know). You can update through system update but you need to update the firmware.bin.
6. I think you're right, a patched CIA.
7. Don't know about this though.

1. It's either you're getting unlucky boots or you installed it wrong.

2. So what you're saying is, you want to just coldboot into Emunand without holding a button? Yeah you just need to unlink your nands it looks like.

3. Nowadays Sysnand only has a few uses. And you don't need to worry about that unless you're interested in making romhacks.

4. Yes it is safe to throw everything onto Emunand, as Emunand is basically an emulation of Sysnand. I don't think they can tell the difference unless you send the console in.

5. Just wait for the threads of the new updates to come out to see for yourself.

6. If you have an Emunand then you don't need to worry about region locks.

7. I forgot how to deal with that.

What are legut cias and where can i get them ? Thanks for every response.
What is a legit (clean/perfect) CIA?
A 'legit' CIA means that the signatures are valid.
A legit cia will work in sysnand, without needing hacks to load it (like gw, cfw etc) -- although we need hacks to INSTALL the cia. :)
The ticket will have a signature, the TMD will have a signature, I'm sure there are more signatures too in the CIA.
When you buy a game/download an update, nintendo generates YOU (ONLY YOU) a signature for the file.
If you edit the file, the signature will not be valid anymore.
If you remove your console id, so that the cia will install on other people's 3DSs, the signature is not valid.
If you patch the demo play count so you can remove the 5, 10, 30 play limit from the demo, the signature is not valid.
If you patch the dlc permissions to set that you have permission for all the dlc, the signature will not be valid.
If you decrypt the contents and edit the game, make it region free, or translate the game it etc, and then re-encrypt, the signature will not be valid.
Only nintendo can create these signatures.

Thank you, Temarile and thedude28, that pretty much sums everything up.

So, I can play online without worrying about Ninny at all? I'm asking because I tried Mario Kart 7, at first it worked, but then I couldn't connect anymore and started to worry whether Nintendo does some legit checks for online games.

No you don't need to worry about that, cuz you're using CIAs right?

Critical Information:

My Old Nintendo 3DS XL (USA NES edition) has a sysNAND of 4.2 and an emuNAND of 9.8. I use RXtools to boot into emuNAND and the only game that I play in emuNAND is Pokémon Omega Ruby so that I can use SaveDataFiler (which I installed from a .CIA file) to import and export save data AND extdata to edit on the computer with PKHex and Tinivi’s BVeditor. I originally updated my emuNAND to 9.2 by using the built-in update feature in the system settings while in emuNAND.

Will RXtools 2.6 support booting into an emuNAND of whatever the latest system version is? I need to update my emuNAND to the latest version in order to play my games online but I don't know how to check if RXtools 2.6 will support the latest system version in emuNAND on an old 3DS system.

Thanks, I'll try that...All my problems started after installing rxtools, looks like this cfw thingy has its downfalls, but now I'm having another problem.. They are distributing pokémon via Nintendo Zone now, and I went to the shop, and opened the NZ viewer via emunand to get the code and it just froze loading...is there anyway i can get it to work?

No you need RxTools Beta to support the latest Emunand.

I have a o3DS with 10.5 on it. I find that the Sky3DS+ is my only option. But before I buy one ($80 isnt expensive for me, but I still rather not mess anything up or know all the details before I buy), I need to know a bit more info.

1) How do I get my Private Headers? I want to make sure I don't get banned, so I want to private header everything as soon as I set things up.
2) Do I need to find CIAs? stick to .3DS files?
3) are .3DZ just compressed 3DS files?
4) I read that Card 2 games can't be trimmed, but it seems quite a few of the games I play or plan to play are Card 2 games, is this still true?
5) If a game has online play, will it work correctly? Do I need to do anything special to make sure it works, stay unbanned, etc.?

Thanks in advance for the help.

I'm kind of confused: so every time Nintendo releases a new update, I have to have a different version of RXtools in order to access emuNAND once I've updated emuNAND to the latest version? Can you please elaborate?

No, I have no idea where you got that from. Nintendo updates their encryption, and the older version of RxTools just can't handle it.

But you can try and updating to the latest Emunand, but if you get a black screen then you need to update RxTools.
