How to get themes on emunand "WITHOUT" unlinking your emunand from your sysnand

(theme emunand while keeping a linked emunand in the process)

Advantages-you will keep all your games, saves and keep you're niid if you have game purchases on the eshop. It also allows you to avoid all sorts of other bugs or mistakes that might happen if you unlink incorrectly or if you are worried about any other things that could potentially happen unprepared.

Disadvantages-You will need 2 sd cards to boot into emunand instead of just 1.Of course you can still use browserhax but that might get patched eventually

Overall-it's a very small price to pay if you can manage to take care of both sd cards

Requirements
1: 2 SD cards with menuhax installed with the installer in the hombrew launcher on both sd cards just in case.

2:Extra data tool on the homebrew launcher of both sd cards (put it on both just to clear confusion on which one to put it on)

The Process
Step 1: choose what sd card you want to have emunand themed. Most likely you will want to choose you're main sd card with all you're installed cia games such as a 32gb or higher. THIS WILL BE CALLED SD CARD A

Step 2: Make shure you have menuhax installed on you're secondary sd card, this will most likely be you're stock 4gb one that came with you're 3ds. THIS WILL BE CALLED SD CARD B

Step 3:Now here is the fun part :) put sd card a into the pc.Put all the theme contents into 3ds/home extra data tool.Once you are done eject sd card a and put it into the 3ds

Step 4:Boot up the homebrew launcher on sd card a through eather menuhax or browserhax and boot up extradata tool.

Step 5: follow this button combo

Press the 2nd option then press a

Press the 4th option then press a

Press the 6th option then press a

Press b to exit

Once you are done you will have emunand themed but you won't have menuhax on sysnand anymore which is like I sead,"a small price to pay"

Step 6: Turn off the 3ds then put in sd card b.Boot into menuhax, once there, swap out sd card b with menuhax still on and then put in sd card a.You will now be able to boot into rxtools with the theme installed o n emunand without unlinking, congrats :)

Note-This is a very noob friendly and risk free tutorial.I would sudjest doing this until there is a proper video tutorial showing and explaining all the things that unliking exactly does besides creating 2 folders and allowing you to theme emunand without breaking menuhax on 1 sd card.It can also potentially do the things I explained in the advantages so please keep that in mind before criticizing this tutorial as unnecessary since it may become unnecessary once I see a proper tutorial video explanation on what unlinking exactly does, thank you and if you want to unlink instead good luck.

Edit-If you are having any problems or need help getting this to work ill be more then happy to help or answer any questions you might have :)

Edit 2-ok guys I unlinked my emunand just to see what all the fuss was about and apperntly I can't use the eshop on emunand due to a error code so I was right, that is a annoying bug.Other then that everything is ok so far.

The error code is 022-2634 if any one wants to help me fix this.

Don't unlink if you want the eshop,I will make a proper unlink tut once I figure this out

Who would want to keep there nands linked?
Well it gives you some time to think it over before going through with it since the main reason to unlink in the first place is so you can theme you're emunand without breaking menuhax on sysnand, this tutorial pretty much proves you don't have to unlink in order to get themes. It can also cause you're niid to separate from the emunand aswell so if you have things bought in the eshop it most likely wont carry over to the emunand also including saves and updates

Sorry but this is just not correct. Unlinking nands will result in the data being kept in whichever NAND is not formatted. There is no "carrying over" since the emunand is created as a duplicate of sysnand. Unlinking of the NNID is easily fixable and results in no loss of data, and can be avoided in any case by using tiny format.

As long as backups are made before doing it just in case you do something wrong, there is absolutely no risk involved in unlinking nands and no reason at all not to do it.

I sead "Wont" carry over but ok.I agree with you as far as tiny format but still you will lose the apps you installed from sysnand since it wont be on the emunand anymore after the unlink (which means the apps are in separate nands now) such as FBI if you installed it with the minipasta, hbl method. So the only way you would be able to get fbi back is by injecting it with rxtools which will cause someone to get a headache in order to figure out what to do which means 4hours of possible searching for someone else.It may also separate the db files aswell causing FBI installing to fail until you fix them up correctly,I'm not 100% Shure on this but that's what I heard some people had trouble with after unlinking pretty much unless that only happens to sysnand

But the point is you don't have to in order to get themes on emunand,I think I made that clear. So even if there is no risk what difference does it make besides what I already sead?

Useless and too long tutorial.
I saw a CHMM2 mod which let you have theme on emunand whithout unlink Nand.

And... Linked Nand FTW ! B-)

Useless eh? This does practically the same thing except you are taking advantage of menuhax on a secondary SD card so you can still get into menuhax on your main SD with a emunand theme installed by simply swapping cards while hbl is running on the sysnand.

But yea Linked NAND FTW ! :P

the main point is safety . . . setting up a theme is secondary at best
Mhm Fair enough but most people want to unlink so they can still run menuhax and theme their emunand on one sd card right away. The people who do that became unaware of what happens after since there isn't a proper video tutorial showing what it does to both you're nands which points back to saftey....

I don't see why anyone would want to keep their NANDs linked. Hell, I was able to use emunand tool and Gateway to make make a back of my NAND, unlink, then use the backup to completely restore my sysNAND to my emuNAND. I lost nothing, my NNID was able to work.
Honestly, keeping them linked, just seems like a silly thing to do when it's easy to unlink and keep your sysNAND untouched and safe.

those are words though, not proof.I haven't seen a proper video tut on what happens to both nands after you unlink so it's still optional until there is.Ive already installed many CIA's to my emunand linked and there hasent been any problems at all which is probley because I'm using the injected FBI on my emunand instead of the one people are installing with the minipasta, hbl method.

You can't use your NNID on your emuNAND if it's currently running on sysNAND. You need to unlink them in order to use the eShop on your emuNAND.

I have the eshop working just fine on rx-e 10.5 linked and I've downloaded game updates so that's not true....well atleast for me.
