Hacking So... I closed my 3DS during downgrade with safesysupdater...

Whenever I need to do something which takes a while like downgrade or installing a cia, I will plug it in and leave it with the screen facing out on my desk, then press the button and not touch it at all until it's done. Only bricked once while doing this stuff and that was in emunand so who cares

unlucky, but just upgrade, better to have a up-to-date system than a brick

1. Enter recovery mode
2. Update to 10.5
3. Hardmod it
4. Backup NAND
   
5. Do a FIRM downgrade
6. Try again until it works

Anyways, just upgrade and follow the hardmod thing to downgrade, it's your only bet.
Last thing would be Sky3DS+ if you're only interested in piracy but you'll miss some sweet homebrews.

probably they would have to incorporate some sort of safety mechanic, a lot of 3ds owners are kids

Due to pure clumsiness, I closed my old 3DS while a downgrade with safesysupdater from 10.3 to 9.2 was running. The process of copying CIA files has already started...

When I now power on the 3DS, the blue light goes on for a few seconds, then the screen flashes briefly, and the the blue light goes off again.

Any hope left?

No. no he didn't. He probably didn't realise that it would brick if he closed it, and so he did. It was an honest mistake he made.

It wasn't due to clumsiness though.

Wow...I'm so glad I didn't have the problems you're having with downgrading. When I was finally able to downgrade I put my 3DS on the floor with it connected to the charger and silently prayed lol.

I hope you'll be able to downgrade, but if I were you, I'd just buy a Sky3DS. Hardmodding seems scary to me.
