Recently I stumbled across the existence of Sudokuhax while just browsing the forums, however there are pages of people asking how to get sudokuhax working on their 3ds' and can't help but ask why? So far I've only found two DSi related homebrews; an update of cQuake to utilise the increased specs of DSi mode and an early alpha stage build of a Quake 2 port. Other than that nothing... Researching old posts and old websites with archived homebrews the only things I can find are various builds of the DSi homebrew launcher for bug fixes, increased SD card capacity support etc. As well as mentions of an old now defunct website that had browser games for DSi. So what gives? Is it just for the novelty of a DSi mode exploit on 3ds (and DSi for that matter) or are their just lots of unreleased homebrews that were developed?

But hey I'd install it just to have Quake 2 on the go, but I'm just curious as to what the deal is. I'm greatful to anyone who can enlighten me. Thanks in advance

Reasons. Maybe more will be known soon in the future.

Previously, like a few months ago, it was a convenient way to install the mset hax when that hack was in vogue.

I see, that is fair enough then. It would seem however that there are a lot of people who seem to have no idea what its potential is and do it just because a whole bunch of other people were doing it as well, despite the mset hax. As for things to be known do you mean the potential of DSi homebrew, the lack thereof or both?

Dsi homebrew on 3ds goes beyond dsi mode. That's all I'm saying on the matter.
We need a way to get it running on the latest firmware though. This repo is a step in that direction (although I suspect a new entry point that doesn't rely on a save injection would be best)

Curious, but I won't press you. I look forward to what ever is being worked on.

On an unrelated note I'd love to help with the reverse engineering but I don't have the experience, could you perhaps point me in the right direction? I'm quite new however the subject interests me very much and I'd love to begin learning how to develop homebrew projects and contribute something to the community rather than just ask questions that are more than obvious to the veteran and be seen as a "GBATemp New User" like in your sig, haha.

Some time ago, I asked around on various IRC channels about the state of DSi hacking. Probably on 3DSbrew, or DSibrew (is that even a thing?) Neimod stated that DSi-mode is owned on the original hardware, but it hasn't been publicly shown, and there isn't much pressure to change that.

There were not a lot of people that were able to run dsi mode homebrew. Essentially you needed a ievo card and a dsi on an old firmware. Not a lot of people had that. Or sudoku hax and even less people had that.
