Hacking Basic Do's and Do NOT's of vWii modding

My vWii 4.3 is already homebrew enabled, I avoid installing .wads generally except for on the Emunand but I'd like to use this forwarder USB Loader GX-UNEO_Forwarder_5_1_AHBPROT_vWii (Fix).wad so I don't always have to go through Homebrew channel.

Was hoping someone would correct me I am mistaken about the process.

1) Put it in /wad/USBforwarder
2) go to HBC and install USB Loader GX-UNEO_Forwarder_5_1_AHBPROT_vWii (Fix).wad with YAWMM.

Just looking for a confirmation this is generally safe, correct method and that the latest available YAWMM works with both Wii and vWii so I don't brick. I have a clean .bakup with YABDM

If you're resourceful and know what you're doing it's actually quite easy to figure out what to do and what not to do.

And that's basically it. If you search for everything you want to do with "vWii" appended to the search you will most likely get what you want out of it.

I was looking at transferring my old Wii stuff to the vWii, but it says during the process the old Wii basically gets wiped. Is it possible to nand dump the old Wii, do the transfer then restore the nand? So then then nothing is wiped essentially.

I'd be worried about your Wii Shop Channel account, however. So if you plan to use the Wii Shop Channel after doing that, it may not work.

Yeah I was reading about that earlier. I highly doubt I'll be using the shop again on the Wii. Once the vWii is sorted I can always pack new purchases up as a wad and get them on the Wii that way (if I was really bothered, which I am not particularly)

Did I do something wrong....? I have set up the vwii hacks properly, following everything in detail. That was a couple of months ago and I tried getting some wii-backups to load, which they did. Today I wanted to expand on the emulator side a bit and I installed FCE U GX, also the channel installer. When launching from HB channel, everyhing works as intended, but when I launch the FCEUGX channel, everything becomes black and the console freezes. The icon is there and I can run it, then it goes to black. Ideas?

Honestly, nothing I did download a different usbloadergx version though.

What are you doing when it shuts down? Is it random or does it appear to be triggered by something?
