Hacking After updating Emunand Cakes to have black screen

I installed Cakes and updated my Emuanand to 10.5. The system restarted and went to the boot menu. I booted in Cakes and now the screen just stays black. Ive tried several times but it keeps happening. When I click on Cakes it says CFW booting and then the black screen comes and nothing happens. I can still boot in sysnand. Whats going on?

I used the files from the Cakes thread. It did boot up fine until I went into system settings and updated. On restart the black screen came up after I saw booting up CFW.

Make sure no other files the firmware.bin are in the cakes folder (with exeption of the patches folder)
This will force cakes into it's menu so you can configure it again.

and like said above, be sure to use the correct firmware.bin.

I can get into the cakes menu. Just the cant boot in Emunand. In cakes folder I have agb_cetk, agb_firmware.bin, config.dat, firkkey.bin, Firmware.bin, and firmware_patched.bin

Wipe firmkey.bin and firmware_patched.bin, let it make a new one from your firmware.bin, also it doesn't hurt to set in options to save patched firm to sd

By wipe I assume you mean erase those 2 files on my SD card in my computer. I did that. Now I get failed to load firm key or CKTM.

I dont understand. Ive tried both the files from cakes on that 3ds site and from gba temp and I keep getting that failure.

Edit: I give up. I fixed the decrypting problem but now im back into the black screen issue and cant boot into Emuanand. Since my Sysnand is okay can I just redo all the steps to Emunand? I should have just stuck with Rxtools and not tried getting cakes to use the newest fw.

Delete the firmware files and download new ones from the official Cakes thread. Then it'll work.
Or try Reinand.

Don't stick with rxtools. 9.5 Emunand is crap now.

Okay. I can boot into Cakes now (I think). In system settings it says ver 9.5.0-23U. I can tell im in Enunand because I see sys updater and some old CIAs I had.

What is the best way to update to the most recent FW? Last time I used system settings it rebooted into the boot menu, I selected Cakes and then I was stuck in the black screen.

Boot back into CakesCFW (check your installed cia banners, if it shows it's ok)
go into systel settings and update (Don't leave system settings, cause exiting system settings reboots your 3ds into sysnand (or hbl if setting menuhax to autoboot)

What do you mean by installed CIA Banners? After I updated last time, the system rebooted right into the menu config where I picked cakes and black screen hit. Do I have to config it so it boots right back into cakes Emunand instead of menu? If so, how do I do this?

I don't know which firmware file you used for 9.5 but it seems it's not the right one for 10.5, please get the correct files. You can also have a look in my tutorial where it points to cakes download, there's a package that has it all. Or use reinand.

Ill just keep keep my RXtools until they update.

Pretty sure you'll run into problems with that as well.
