Namely looking for a cia of Save manager, https://gbatemp.net/threads/save-data-manager-and-editor-for-firmware-up-to-9-9.396245/
I can't seem to find one. For now I've trained the kids on how to backup/import animal crossing so they can do edits but from what I've experienced we can only launch from Homebrew launcher and then this only lets us interact with the cartridge or sysnand last i remember. If we could execute from emunand, it should make it smoother.
Also for now we launch HBL cia, save manager, then ftbrony, back to save manager, then force reboot as launching rxtools/rei from HBL will crash since it was already loaded from emunand.

I know save data filer will do it, but thats a bit too complicated for them. Hell I havent quite narrowed down the different choices. it has about 2-3 different export options.

oh ok sorry, you know that, but really it's not that hard. if you taught them to use ftp, you can teach them to use sdf

CIA isn't doable at the moment. The menu that pops up to select which game you want to backup is produced by the Homebrew Launcher. If you made it a CIA you won't be able to choose which game you wanted the save from.

SVDT would probably work then since it doesn't work off of the Homebrew Launcher's features.

Is this new? My version does for digital titles. Let me upgrade and see. If it does not need the menu anymore I'll make a CIA as soon as I can.

For the kids at the place of rebooting rei/rxTools from the homebrew launcher just make them to reboot the console by pressing the power button (or start, then reboot if using gridlauncher). If you have menuhax it will reboot into emuNAND automaticaly.

Yea, menuhax and ctr are set to coldboot rx/rei. its just i told them either reboot and go to HBL before the 2 second timeout, or execute HBL from cia if already in game. again they have to catch the 2 sec timeout.
I'm guessing if they cold booted into HBl they could exit to emunand fine. but from emu to hbl to emu it will hang.

SVDT I dont know. I've tried on 3 different systems and it just hangs on red screen at the bottom. I heard let it wait, but I dont think it should need more than 1 minute.

I've gotten SVDT to load up, but it doesn't enable you to do anything useful.

I am unable to duplicate your situation. Removing the title selection XML will simply boot me into Download Play with no option to change games. Are you using cartridges or eShop titles?

You shouldn't remove the .xml because that won't let you choose a game, try choosing a game that was released quite some time ago since it could be a matter of the new 9.6+ security.
Tested with AC:New Leaf on New3ds 9.2 SysNAND, 10.5 EmuNAND, still corrupted save

The XML cannot be included with the CIA file so we're back to my original statement, SVDT cannot be made into a CIA at the moment because it relies on the Homebrew Launcher to select a game to backup the save for. Without it you just enter a random title with no option to change it.

How complicated is too complicated? I may have a solution for you now, but it's still not as simple as save_manager.
You think they can memorize this?:
SD/CIA -> Animal Crossing: New Leaf -> (Backup or Restore) -> (You can probably just put their names here for the slot).

True, I didn't usually use it since save_manager was more than enough.

What.

Just this week I used savedatafiler to export edit and import final fantasy explorers save and it worked perfectly. Or what so you mean by newer saves?
Maybe he got SVDT and SDF mixed up?
Don't know, I haven't had any trouble with it either.
I haven't had much luck with New Leaf secure values with ANY save managers (SDF included), but that's another story altogether.

I'm working on it. One of them still doesn't grasp the need to backup each time since she has the files. And I keep explaining thats why everything you did today is gone. She'll get it. SDF concerns me with the options.
Whats the difference with User and Ext. And then Export this user save data vs export this secure value?

Just loads right in.

SaveDataFiler will always corrupt newer saves and has not been fixed asa of yet.
Wrong. After importing the save file, all you have to do is press R+X to delete secure value. That then makes the save file usable.
