Homebrew 10.4 SYSNAND Any way to install homebrew and mod?

I have 2 3DS's. BOTH have 10.4 One is a mario 3DS / the 2nd is a NEW 3DS.

I'm experienced in modding Wii. This is my first crack at a 3DS (no oun intended). Am I correct in my assumption that a 10.4 SYSNAND cannot be downgraded and modded? From what I've been reading that requires a hard mod / reflash?

Hard mod is only when you made a backup which you likely didn't...your options for old 3ds is user land homebrew using the browser and for new 3ds, you need cubic ninja

Unless you had a Hardmod and did a backup of your NAND before upgrading, you cannot downgrade.

So I've literally done NOTHING. I'm just starting out. I was following this tutorial. https://gbatemp.net/threads/tutorial-more-or-less-catch-all-tutorial.407080/#post-5889916
When I got to the internet browser, it said "script terminated" and that's as far I got. So I was assuming it was related to being on 10.4 with my SYSNAND. I have NO EMUNAND... I literally have an unmodded 3DS

Go to http://yls8.mtheall.com/spider28hax.php in your old 3ds to load hbl (make sure to have boot.3dsx)

Well your installing a system settings app before the new 3ds even existed so no it won't be there but be careful with the 2ds since if you format it or ask you to use the 3ds slider which you can't do causing a soft brick

I'm assuming you do understand that even if you access homebrew on 10.4 our downgrade methods were blocked on this FW, so you won't be able to access CFW or have an emunand currently.

For regular size for old or new , it's hard ..this is why hundshamer charges more for regular sizes for his hardmod services...do you have a nand backup? Hardmod is Useless without it and it's only useful to people who test and debug stuff over 9.2

i never had a 2ds i had a o3ds xl which i sold today and bought a n3ds

Use menuhax which auto boots ,mset is kinda useless now and only useful for old 3ds owners if the have 9.0 or below

Oh I don't... I'd love to just soft mod, like I did my wii, install some CIA's roms on the SDcard and go. That's what I'm attemping. same as everyone. I thought because I was starting from 10.4 and an unmodded 3DS XL and NEW 3DS XL on 10.4 that I was stuck to mod them. Sounds like not... but I'm stuck even getting homebrew to load.

According to 3dbrew, browserhax doesn't work on 10.4.
