Homebrew 10.4 update for N3DS XL? (Legit cia and menuhax question)

Hey guys, my N3DS XL is currently on 10.3 sysnand. I never downgraded as I didn't feel like plunging in the end.However, I did take advantage of homebrew and legit CIAS on 10.3. Will legit cias function as regular games on 10.4? Also, will the menuhax theme softbrick my n3ds if i update? Thanks in advance.

Yes, try to downgrade. Use safesysupdater, its a very rare chance that you'll get a hardbrick so if you're going to 10.4 anyways worst case you'll have to use the recovery mode to install the latest firmware. There's no reason to try and not take the plunge

If you don't intend to downgrade, here's the answer to your questions:

1. Yes, your legit installed games should work fine on 10.4
2. No it will not brick your console if you have a custom MenuHax theme and update, you just lose it.

Is this legitimately happening soon? Does it require their flash cart? Idk. I read about someone bricking with safe sysupdater so that's pretty worrisome. Also read about people constantly soft bricking to a point in which they gave up.

Really the only cases of bricking with safesysupdater is when they use the wrong update.zip.

Downgraded my n3DS xl with safeSysUpdater no problem. Worst case scenario as Fureshyu said, soft-brick then update to 10.4. It's worth a try IMO

Thanks for the response. I definitely am considering downgrading once they patch the eshop spoof, however I am more interested about whether or not 10.4 will brick me because of menuhax. Worried about it honestly.

Don't think it'll brick. My concern is you loosing menuHax entry point. I've read various statements and i'm confused. I think if you update but already have menuhax, you won't lose it. BrowserHax seems to be dead as of now on 10.4. Don't quote me on that, may be wrong

If you worried about menuhax you can easily remove it.

To remove menuhax you can

1. uninstall it from the menuhax options in hbl

Or
2. Change the theme, and also delete the files from SD card.

After that there should be zero trace of using homebrew

Yet, there are still bricks happening. They are less common now (and 95% of the time only softbrick) but there's still a risk involved.

For anyone who hasn't taken the plunge yet though, it's now or never. Updating to 10.4 will leave them without any way to get CFW for the foreseeable future. It might be worth the downgrade risk to be able to use CFW.

Anyways, her and I are both on 10.3 with menuhax 2.1. Many people have said updating would be relatively harmless, just the destruction of a lot of entry points. After downgrading people get pseudobricks because menuhax had the incorrect payload I believe.

What I am scared of is the same effect while UPDATING. Uninstalling would solve this issue easily, however as many have mentioned this also destroys a valid entry point.

Tl;dr has anyone updated with menuhax and know if your 3DS functions correctly with the outdated 10.3 payload? Thanks for all the responses so far.

After updating you will have the same issue people have when downgrading with Menuhax: you will see only a black screen. That's because Menuhax is configured for 10.3, not for 10.4. The solution is just removing the SD, changing the theme and inserting it back. There's no risk at all with using homebrew entrypoint and never will, so don't worry about it.

The thing is... if you update to 10.4, you cannot use ironhax, browserhax has been patched on n3ds (or so they say) and you have to uninstall menuhax to let the home menu load... so I don't know how many entrypoints you would be able to use to run hb again on 10.4 on n3ds.

I don't know if you can make menuhax work on 10.4 changing only the payload without uninstalling

I updated my N3DS XL with menuhax installed, and now I can't load the home menu with the microSD card in. How can I uninstall menuhax? I have already deleted the menuhax .bin files from the microSD. I also tried changing the theme, but it says it cannot change the theme without an SD card. UPDATE: Fixed by booting without SD card, got to home, inserted SD card while on, and changing theme.
