had to reformat my SD card due to accidentally updating my emunand to 10.4 so it is now 4.5. Is there anyway I can manually upgrade to around 9.0 (and is there much benefit?) Quite new to gateway 3ds and tried to look online for no clear answer. Thanks in advance

You should always make an EmuNAND backup before updating to avoid such problems!
Did you? if so, you can install your backup EmuNAND back with Emunandtool v1.3 (Windows)

Boot your Emunand and use Sysupdater.cia (it wont update your sysnand) and upgrade to 10.3.0-28 I cant give you a link to that CIA pack but you can download it using 3DNUS just type 10.3.0-28 in the title ID field and USA/EUR/JPN in the version field for the region your 3DS is. Put all the CIA's it downloads into a folder called updates and move that folder to the root of your SD card.

EmuNAND works on Latest firmware (10.4.0-29) on Old 3DS and New 3DS (ReiNAND) (Not sure about RxTools yet)

Oh really? I updated my emunand earlier but couldn't access my games by pressing select. So that's why I wiped my SD

Nah I didn't I literally set up my gateway a few days ago and just assumed I could safely update the emunand.

Cheers I'll look into this. seems somewhat technical given I have no idea what I'm doing but I'll try figure it out.

The emuNAND works, but the multi-ROM menu is broken like you found out. Give it a day or so and Gateway will probably have it fixed.

One thing that just occurred to me.... The sound on the 2600 sucked less back then the harsh sound we hear now is from infinitely better speakers we have now, back when the 2600 was new speakers produced a almost muffled sound, like CRTs made old graphics look slightly better.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I wonder if I could recommend that to some emulation devs that perhaps the sound could use some smoothing out to simulate those old TVs
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way

  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
It's old but it's the best firmware out for DS stuff
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
it says it only works for the original R4, R4i Gold (r4ids.cn), R4iDSN (r4idsn.com) and Acekard R.P.G.
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:

  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:

Just give it a try, but honestly if you have a 3DS you can play DS games without a card just off the internal SD card
