If you ever think that your downgrade wasn't a "complete" downgrade. Use safe sysupdater found in the homebrew section. It will tell you if you have any corrupt/bad update files.

WAIT! I think something happened. I reorganized my db files and once I went to software it let me reset. Now I was able to install CHMM to emuNAND. Going to try the Smash update next.

Also, does it help that I'm running a Smash Bros ROM instead of an actual cart?

UPDATE - Update installed to emuNAND successfully, trying DLC now.

UPDATE - DLC installed successfully to emuNAND, booting up Smash to see if anything changed.

EVERYTHING WORKS!

Hey guys, here another question - Since there doesn't seem to be any support chat here (I wouldn't expect there to be as this isn't a company, to me this actually kind of sounded mean, sorry if it came off as rude) can someone explain EmuNANDs to me? Today I installed Happy Home Designer as a CIA game. It was 478mb in size and FBI detected it as 517mb installed. So I installed it and deleted the CIA to save space but my question is: If it was detected as 517mb when installed and I had 498mb left after I deleted the CIA file, how can the game still run? Like does it change file size when installed on EmuNAND?

Also, can EmuNAND and Reinand run out of region CIAs? I know HBL has a region free loader but I only have one Japanese game, I can't afford 90-100 bucks and a month of waiting for a game to arrive ahaha. One last thing - How would I go upon swapping out the standard microSD that came with my 3DS for a bigger one? I know I have to back up my EmuNAND and my SysNAND but I'm not sure how to do that completely.

cia files are, by nature, archives. The file extension stands for "CTR Installable Archive". Most games are slighly larger when unpacked and installed than they are in .cia format waiting to be installed.

Reinand itself cannot run out of region cias by default. However you can do so by installing a program called "FreeMultiPatcher" and running it after booting emunand. You will need to rerun this program every time you reboot your system. One thing to keep in mind, updates and DLC will only work if they are from the same region as the game itself.

To swap your sd card to a larger one, the easiest way is to use a program like EaseUS or MiniTool Partition Wizard to clone the old SD card to the new one. You would then need to the same tool to extend the data partition on the new card to make use of the rest of the space.

Alternatively, you can use emunand9 or GW's menu to set up an emunand partition on the new sd card, then use emuNANDTool on your pc to extract your emunand partition from the old sd card, and then inject it into the new card. Once you do that you can then simply copy the entire contents of the old sd card to the new one, then place the new card in your n3DS.

Okay, I got everything except for the CIA description. I just want to know how I installed a 517mb game and it only took up around 10-15mb even though it's installed size claimed it was going to be 517mb.

I am not sure I understand what you are saying, and tbh I am not entirely sure you understand what you read in FBI either.

Okay, let me try to explain it better:

I downloaded the CIA version of Happy Home Designer. The size of it was 473mb. After transferring it from my desktop to the 3DS's SD card, I had to delete a bunch of my older CIA files to make room for this CIA. Under the FBI logo where you have the option to choose where to install the CIA and what CIA to install/delete, there's a memory reading up top that tells you how much memory you have left on whichever NAND you're currently looking in. At the top of the screen above the FBI logo, you see the size of the CIA you currently have selected and the size of it if it were installed. Happy Home Designer was 473mb by itself but 513mb after it was installed (I'm assuming extra data or something). So after I installed HHD I hade 25mb left on my EmuNAND, so I deleted the HHD CIA file that was 473mb and ended up with around 499mb of free space.

What I am trying to say is 'If I installed a game that was 513mb and deleted the original 473mb file, why isn't the game 513mb still?'

Not sure. That seems a little weird tbh.
