Hacking Newbie here, need help setting up a 3ds to run cia's

ive got an OLD 3DSXL with the fw 6.0.1 or something like that.
whats the best way to go around installing cfw's or whatever?
do i need to downgrade it?
do i just go with rxtools?
does the region free exploit still work ?

im clueless right now but im sure i can do anything that doesn't involve soldering stuff . i dont have access to that ninja game either .
what do i need?

Update to 10.3 then downgrade to 9.2 after setup rxTools create an emuNand and inject bigbluemenu over health and safety. Tutorials for all of these can be found in the CFW section.

No need to downgrade but you might want to update to 9.0/9.2 to use menuhax autoboot.

im already a bit confused lol,
and if you dont mind me asking....why would i not have a browser?(serious question, is that really supposed to be hurdle?)

Some stock 3DS don't have a browser.

mine came with f/w 6.0 pre loaded. since the browser came with the 2.0 update im sure mine does(i dont have it on me at the moment to check)

I said some consoles don't have a browser installed, even with fw >= 2.0, but it's quite rare.

Sysnand is your system OS if that makes it easier to understand and Emu(Emulated)nand is a hidden partition CFW can boot into, its a shadow copy of your Sysnand

so ill be running all games off of emunand right?

Correct install games/homebrew cia's to Emunand you won't need Sysnand for anything as for firmware hacks im going to assume you mean homemenuhx for 9.2. Use rxTools to update to 9.2 and use homenuhax the tutorial should have all relevant info for you.
