If i install a Non region CIA to my 3DSXL NTSC-U, as example an EUR CIA, and playing online, is it dangerous? like, asking for a ban?

i have RxTools and im wondering if i should install the corresponding region CIA in order to play online, "without risk".

Any additional steps or suggestion would be nice, thank you!

I've played JP games online with my US 3ds and I was fine. Generic "there is always some risk when playing online with out-of-region CIAs" disclaimer, but the reported bans have been minuscule at best (and temporary at worst)

I am currently running some EUR games on my US system without hassle. I think the games need to be region-free to work, but I could be wrong.

correct, older rxtools versions need region free patches to prevent it from being unwrapped all the time. the latest rxTools nightly (5dec2015) fixes this issue, but only works on o3DS though. for n3DS, you have to use freemultipatcher to get those out of region CIAs to install or to even show up if not patched.

But what about online play? i know that rxTools accept any cia and can be played on any o3ds, but im worried about out of region cias on online play, i have read several ban issue for out of region cias.

it's pretty much safe for online play. as long as you don't get caught cheating and somebody actually took the time to report you.

Headers are for cart games cia games do not use Headers and can be used online with no problems as Nintendo can not detect you are playing a wrong region game on your 3ds.

If you have actually seen any reports of people getting banned when using CIAs, please link that to me. CIA titles use the unique ID of your system, not an individual header from a cart, like .3ds do. You can get banned if you play online and the same header is being used on multiple systems, which, of course is impossible for your system header. You will not get banned. I've recently been playing Triforce Heroes on both US & EU (because of retard fucking region lock) and even moving my save back and forth and have not been banned or anything :)

Works perfectly for me on New 3DSXL in rxTools, don't need to unwrap them or region patch.

So Triforce Heroes region lock really is locked to the NAND's region? Do you happen to know if a region-spoofed EmuNAND can play Triforce Heroes online for the native region of said EmuNAND?

No, it's locked to the game version, which is why I said I've been playing EU and US.

Whoa! What CFW are you using? Are those .cias modified in any way? (Seriously, I thought not even Region-free .cia patching allowed online for that game!)
I'm using Gateway mainly but also RXTools. Works perfectly in both. The CIA is cryptofixed. I'll PM the one I used.

I see it's answered already but I'd just like to contribute my own 2 cents. My out of region Pokemon Super mystery dungeon works flawlessly even to the point where I can do rescue missions for others, but at the same time when trying to connect with an out of region cia of Zelda Tri Force heroes i'm being sent into an infinite "accept license agreement" loop. What I'm trying to say is, before you get the out of region game look into how and what kind of online functionality it has - because you wouldn't want to get the same loop as described. I personally suspect said loop is because (in my case)
> It wants me to accept
> I accept the EU agreement
> But for the game I have the accept the US agreement
> Which I can't get since it's an EU console
> So it gives me the EU agreement again thinking I didn't accept.
