Hoe speel ik deze vertaling?
  1. Download xDelta en de patch van deze pagina (hierboven).
  2. Open xDeltaUI.exe
  3. Kies PLEHGD.xdelta als patch
  4. Kies de Europese van Professor Layton and the Curious Village, andere versies werken niet!
  5. Kies de plek en naam voor de "gepatchde" rom.
  6. Zet de ROM op je flashcard of speel hem in een emulator.

Hoe kan ik helpen?
1. Patch de rom zoals hierboven beschreven.
2. Gebruik DSLazy of DSBuff om de rom uit te pakken.
3. Download/open de ROM in Tinke, en zoek hetgeen wat je wilt vertalen, en exporteer het.

1. Puzzels
data/qtext/en/
Het nummer is niet hetzelfde als het puzzel nummer maar wel hetzelfde nummer als intern gebruikt wordt voor de puzzel.
c_ is de tekst die je krijgt als je de puzzel hebt opgelost
f_ is de tekst die je krijgt als je de puzzel verkeerd gemaakt hebt
h_*_* is de tekst voor de hints, waar de eerste ster het interne puzzel nummer is en de tweede de hoeveelste hint voor die puzzel
q_ is de beschrijving/uitleg voor de puzzel
t_ is al vertaald voor alle puzzels en is de titel van de puzzel

2. Verhaaltekst/dialoog
data/etext/en/
e*_t* Waar e* staat voor het interne evenement nummer. en t* hoeveelste deel van dit evenement het is.
De e* nummers zijn niet op chronologische volgorde.

  • Wordt het spel nog volledig vertaald?
  • Ik verwelkom hulp om dit doel te halen. Ik heb de laatste tijd of weinig tijd of weinig zin om hier nog aan te werken. Er is een basis uitleg over hoe je kunt meehelpen. Als er nog iets onduidelijk is kun je mij of @Timmerito altijd dingen vragen!

Professor Layton en het Geheimzinnige Dorp is a fan translation of the game Professor Layton and the Curious Village. The goal of this project is to make sure everyone can enjoy the entire Professor Layton series completely in Dutch!

How can I play this translation?
  1. Download xDelta and the patch from this page (above).
  2. Open xDeltaUI.exe
  3. Choose PLEHGD.xdelta as patch
  4. Choose the EU version of Professor Layton and the Curious Village, other versions will NOT work!
  5. Choose a directory to save your patched rom.
  6. Put your patched ROM on your flashcard or play it with an emulator.

FAQ:
  • How do I get the UK version of Professor Layton and the Currious Village?
  • You can buy the game online or in certain shops, you can use this to dump the game using wood_dumper on DS or DS lite (does not work on DSi or 3DS!). You can also download the rom illegally online.
  • Will this game be 100% translated?
  • That's the plan, but no promises! There is no ETA for the completion, and the image issue listed above will also determine how much 100% is.

Is there still being worked on?
Yes this is still being worked on, well not currently I'm on a short break right now because I'm busy with school and other things but it's still a project I plan to work on. (Also the release was less then a week ago, doubt I would stop working on it that quick XD)

Is there a way I can help?, I already have translated a game fully to Dutch not so long ago.
Currently I am not seeking any help as it's something I mostly do for myself. But if you have the technical ability you could help me with a tool that can convert images to the .arc image type (both BG and ani types) the game uses. You can look in the Tinke github repo for more info on it if you are interested.

New update!
Started work on translating images (highly beta right now, but conversion is now correct!). Also grammar and spelling mistakes were fixed.
As I've seen myself lose interest in this project to some degree, and I know there's people that want this, and also want to help I've put up some basic info about how to edit the game. For more information you can always contact me here or at: [email protected].
Is there a way I can help?, I already have translated a game fully to Dutch not so long ago.
You now can! I currently have no way to coordinate this collaberation though. If you or anyone else has tips on how to do this most efficiently it would be much apriciated!

Hello, I am doeing a translation for polish and I have a problem with .arc files in tinke. How did you edit them?

Thank you for such a quick answer! But could you upload an 32bit version? I am doing the translation on some old laptop :)
I achieved polish letters by changing the Å or Ö (these are not polish, but are availible in game) in Tinke font editor to Ą or Ó (these are polish).
Then, when I want to use polish letters, i write Ö, but in-game it looks like Ó.

I only compiled the 64-bit version. You can download the latest version from GitHub and compile it yourself. Otherwise you can PM me on Twitter, I will compile a 32-bit version for you then though it'll be a little while before I find the time.

Hello guys,

It's almost a year later now, and I thought that it would be time now for a new update!
This update includes:
  • More translated pictures
  • Translated all the script files (The text in the ''Inn'' minigame, the puzzle titles in the ''Puzzleregister'', and the puzzle info in the register which includes the locations of the puzzles and the type of the puzzles.)
  • Some more text translated, all the locations are translated now.
  • Most likely some more things that i have forgotten. :P
And the things left to do now are:
  • Translating more pictures, almost done all the pictures but that are some diffecult ones left, like the chapter introductions and the puzzle tutorials.
  • Translating all the text, I believe that we still need to translate like 1500 text files.
I want to thank @IcySon55 for Kuriimu, and @onepiecefreak for creating the .gds plugin (in 2 days!) which made it possible to translate the script files.

As always, when someone finds an (translation)error, just say it, and I or @MRJPGames will fix it. That's all for today, have fun with the update, and hopfully there will be a new update soon (and not a year later :P)

This is the first version that needs the EU rom, and not the US rom. So you need to have an EU rom to use it.

Hi guys, it has been silent for some time now (damn, almost 3 months, sorry guys, hoped to give an update a bit earlier), but I can say some things about the new upcoming update:
  • All the Puzzle Tutorials are translated
  • A bunch of puzzles are translated
  • The subtitles for the cutscenes are translated
  • Some textfixes
Currently there are 8 puzzle tutorials left to translate, and i think 50 puzzle text files before I'm ready to release a new update. I think that the update will come in a few weeks, depending on how much time I have.

I actually have one other thing for you, an almost translated boxart. The only things that aren't translated yet are the puzzle screenshots on the back. Also the letters on the spine are a bit to fat, in comparison to the other games. I someone wants to fix that I would be very greatful, because I can't make it look better. If someone wants to see comparison pictures with the original cover tell me, I made some pictures of it, so I can upload them if someone wants to see them.
