I've got a small hunch that Ninty will pull an exact same stunt like MS.

Ninty just pulls a tiny update without the end user ever knowing a thing.
Possibly adding a blacklist or some very small patch to the browser.

They actually did with 3DS firmware 9.9 and up. They can activate a "kill-switch" on their server side whenever they want, which pops up a box telling you to update via the Internet before the browser is ready for use (this can be blocked though via router/tubehax/etc, but once you have the nag, it's game over). They also snuck in fake web browsers into game carts that carry the 9.9 and above update, which pops up the same box, effectively bricking your browser if it's older than the fake one they included. The Wii U also auto-updates if a bunch of domains aren't blocked or Wifi isn't disabled.

At any rate, it IS sort of surprising that they didn't at least try to kill off 10.3 browserhax by simply making a new fake update check or something, server-side. They can do so whenever they want, as far as I understand..

if you downgrade the browser below the one that comes with 9.9 then it won't have that implemented.

Had no idea you could downgrade the web browser on 3ds.

That's true, but if you have the ability to downgrade the browser, it wouldn't make a lot of sense to downgrade the browser only, and not the entire system along with it.

On one hand, I can't blame Ninty for doing so.
Half a month ago orso, I updated from 4.5 to 10.3.
Can't remember exactly if the browser was already blocked but eh.

Since you were on 4.5, it's highly unlikely that your browser was blocked, if not almost impossible.

Should install a hardmod and flash back the NAND dump I made on 4.5, just for the heck of trying it out.

If you do, install a web browser from the 9.9-10.2 range and see if you get the update nag (probably will, if the browser even runs on such an old firmware).

well pretty much anyone except N3DS owners that are afraid of bricking can downgrade their systems and install emuNAND now. the only real problem is if 10.4 releases and breaks emuNAND. there's even a way to move all your games and apps and saves and NNID to emuNAND so you can play new games and update without losing access to homebrew or hacking utilities. although I would keep an older version of the browser on your SD card to reinstall every time emuNAND is updated so you dont possibly get an unfunctioning browser and can keep spider3dstools-based hacks working on emuNAND on old3ds. i just hope the browser nag doesnt affect updated emuNAND somehow.

US n3dsxl couldn't find an update. Probably just an old update notification that has decided to appear for whatever reason.

just CN? and oot bt you will need a sav dongle to install it if you cant get HBL through browserhax?

Once they kill the browser for 10.3? OoT, CN, Smash (delete the update), and Shufflehax/MenuHax 2.1 (this requires one of the first three to setup, of course, and OoT also requires being setup by Smash, another hacked OoT, or CN). There are still plenty of entrypoints.

not really smash is waaaay too complicated and not 100 % , so that just leaves CN and oot for initial hax setup
also oot does not require being setup by smash not sure what you mean by that , you can do it with a sav dongle
but oot and CN are in short supply hard to come by titles, i have both though , one US region CN unopened and one EU region opened CN and one US oot first run cart
but somoene else would need a compatible oot and sav dongle or a CN cart at that point its just as cheap to buy a sky 3ds

I said Smash, another hacked copy of OoT, OR Cubic Ninja, as in: you can use multiple methods to set it up. Save dongles are also valid, as is a Sky3DS.

i guess if it gets blocked someone will just set up a server and host it there ,change DNS like with tubehax or you have to host it yourself

SO hangon, if (soon) we can install 10.3 (or 10.4 ) on our emunands, does that mean we have to be super careful of this "kill switch"? Or can that be blocked by rxtools.
