How does one even brick their 3DS?

Depending on how you brick it, it can be because of an accident, because you didn't follow instructions correctly, or because of unstable software.
There are probably more things that can cause a brick, too.

It's not really a failsafe, it's like... When your system runs out of power while updating and the update installs incorrectly or corrupts, the 3DS can't launch the HOME menu correctly, and results in a brick. It's not supposed to happen at all.
I hope that makes sense, I'm really bad at explaining things lol

software corruption. it probably wasnt nintendos intentions.
