Tutorial
Updated
Make HomeMenuHax (or other *hax) load a 3dsx other than boot.3dsx
Disclaimer: I am not responsible if anything breaks.
Requirements:
---------------------------
- HxD or any other hex editor
- The MenuHax ropbin payload downloaded to your SD card
Tutorial
---------------
Now that you have the required materials, let's begin:
1. Insert your SD/MicroSD into your PC or Mac, and copy the ropbinpayload that you want to modify to your PC. This will be a backup file in case you break something.
2. Open the ropbinpayload on your SD/MicroSD with HxD or any other hex editor. Press Ctrl + F, and search for boot. You should see boot.3dsx on the panel on the right highlighted in light blue. Drag your mouse over boot, turning it dark blue, and press delete or backspace. Confirm the popup asking if you want to delete it.
3. In a text file/other means of entering text, enter a string of text with four letters; no more or less. Go open up HxD, and, where boot was (there should only be .3dsx in its place), right click, and press 'paste insert.' Save the file.
4. Rename the 3DSX you want to use to the string of text you entered earlier.
5. Enjoy!
Why would I want to use this?
----------------------------------------
You would use this if you use custom firmware. You could have MenuHax load rxtl.3ds, while keeping the Homebrew Launcher boot.3dsx on the root of your SD card so you don't ruin your other means of launching homebrew (e.g. the CIA Homebrew Launcher if you use EmuNAND), you want to launch Masher's launcher on boot, but want Smea's as a backup, or want a quick way of getting into that emulator you love.
