It will never be 100% safe, even with the 3ds system updater. With julian20's sysupdater, the worst case would be a softbrick and it's easily recoverable anyway...

That's not true.

It is true, since SAFE_MODE is installed first... If you install a wrong update pack or if you corrupts your files while transfering them to the SD card, then no it's not recoverable and it's your fault

Seriously though to prevent that from happening you need to download the proper files.

No, safe_mode will just be not installed or corrupted, but you should be able to start your 3ds...

k, but it still counts as a brick, even if you can easily recover your 3ds form it. And there still the chance of hard bricking it if you do a step wrong, but that would be your fault... but still...

ktm won't be any more stabler then sysupdater and the only difference is it just tells you not to shut 3ds off while downgrading which is obvious
