I have an 3DS with Gateway card and wanted to update my console to 9.2 firmware from 4.1
I did that with a downloaded rom by using the Gateway software.

Update went well. After installing the updated firmware to 9.2 I had to restart the system. From that moment all I got is a blue power led. Nothing more. Screens stay black all the way. No signs off life at all. And black is really black, no lights sign or what so ever. It's dead.

Does anybody know how to solve this?

yes. I can switch my system off by holding the power button down for 10 secs. And when I press the power button again there is only the blue power led. Nothing more at all. The screens stay pitch black. And I mean really black without any light what so ever.

Your bricked you cant update using a Gateway card try pulling out the SD card and powering on. Then if that does not work hold L+R+UP+A then press the power button if you don't get the recovery menu it's dead, you need a Nand backup and do a hard mod.

Besides its hard to hold down the L+R+UP+A, it did not work.
Do I need to put the Gateway card in its slot when performing this action?

Ok but what should I do next? I removed all cards from my 3DS and performed the L+R+UP+A then press the power button. Nothing. Do I need to insert a card somewhere in my 3DS?

Do you have a copy of your Nand.bin? is there a Nand.bin file on your SD card?

I can solder but do not have the proper equipment. And sending it to someone out of Europe is more expensive then bying a secondhand. Think I have to deal with it.
