Homebrew Future ideas now that we have kernel exploit - possibility of NDS emulation?

Now that great devs release the kernel exploits, just want to ask what are the realistic future hacks that may be developed...

1. i hope it should enable NDS rom emulation without needing a flash cart, seeing each NDS games on home menu...
2. cheat engine without gateway...

hmmm?what else? share your thoughts...

NOTE: i know that 3ds can run ds games on original cart, but what i mean is "possibility of NDS ROM emulation", hope moderators can change the title... :-)

He doesn't mean true emulation, just an application that can inject .nds roms and run them from ARM9 mode.

I guess what he actually wants is a way to boot .nds software from the 3DS' home menu.

Why would you want to emulate a NDS when it has the NDS's hardware built into it???

I don't get why people want DS emulation, just get a DS mode flashcart, you can get them dirt cheap, bam perfect DS compatibility done and done

what i mean is run nds roms that is not possible now without nds flash cart... i want to see nds game collection on home menu :-)

You probably don't mean true emulation, as the 3DS has an ARM9 core that is meant to run DS games....

As for an application that boots .nds roms in ARM9 mode, it's definitely a possibility.

We can only play DS games with a DS flashcart, I think we should aim for a HomeBrew DS Loader.

I'd say do something like what DSTWO did regarding DS playback. Not emulated, but did grant various feature one might find in emulation. And do that while storing ROMs on the SD card.

Oh well that makes sense. I saw a post a month before asking someone to make a DS emulator for the 3DS. lol

If there was a .CIA that boot into the ARM9 WOOD FW that would actually be cool.

If people were interested, they could have worked on this a year ago when 9.2 kernel was broken. Not to mention we can't exactly inject ds games like we can gba and other VC titles.

I don't think most people understand what "emulation" actually is. But that's fine, as he still got his point across.

I read somewhere that this could be made and it would be pretty awesome. Gateway should implement it in their red card.

it will be fun to see a certain game collection on one place (home menu)
for example all the pokemon games from gb, gbc, gba, nds, 3ds on home menu, and also zelda games...
