Hello,

My rarely used N3DS is on 9.0 and back in the day like a dumbass i deleted the browser. Having no way to fix it at the time, and no Nand back up (trust me, my other two 3ds's have backups now) It has just not been used.

Is there an option now adays to launch into rxtools, pasta, etc and use fbi to install another browser? I have Sky3ds at my disposal.

If there isn't an option, i will merely update it and use it for online play with sky3ds. No loss imo since i have another 9.0 N3ds and a 4.3 O3ds on 10.3. Just wanted to ask before i update it.

Thanks guys, and sorry to ramble.

Download a Cubic Ninja game and run it on SKY3DS activate ninjhax1.0 and install RXTools. I think that SHOULD work for you.
Ninjhax1 requires a browser, Ninjhax2 however can be used without a browser and will serve the same purpose.

If you happen to have ocarina of time, you can use oot hax and launch rxtools.

I have sky3ds so in theory i do

Use one of the mentioned exploits to setup menuhax and use it to launch rxTools from boot. Also you should be able to download the latest build of the browser but restoring the one that was there may not be possible unless by chance certain pirate sites have the cia available since I believe Nintendo removed most if not all the old stuff from there server's.

There are full update packs available online so it may be possible to pull the browser's .cia from one of them and install it manually.

Launching rxTools at boot - Menuhax!

These steps will setup Menuhax, which we will configure to allow rxTools to boot the moment you turn on your 3DS/2DS! IMO this is the best way to launch rxTools.

Note: You must be on 9.0 - 9.2 firmware. This means your sysnand has to be on or between 9.0 to 9.2 system version. To update to 9.0 or 9.2, scroll down to the section How to Update your 3DS/2DS to 9.0 or 9.2 and follow the instructions, then come back here.

Download the Homebrew Starter Pack and extract the contents to your SD card root. Put the SD card back in your 3DS.
Set a random theme on your 3DS, then change it back to the default theme.
Launch browserhax (it took MANY tries for me to finally get it to boot). Zoom-in all the way to the slider at the top-left and touch the very right of the bar. It may work touching the very left side as well.
If you can run any other *hax entrypoint via other means, such as Cubic Ninja, Ironfall, Ocarina of Time, etc., then I urge you to do so. They usually work better than Browserhax.
Once in the homebrew menu, run the menuhax_manager v2.0 installer and install menuhax.
(At this point, I also set a custom button setup so that it loads sysnand only when I hold R. This is Type 2 in the config menu.)
After all that, test if menuhax boots you into the homebrew menu at cold boot. Just turn off your 3DS and turn it back on. Be sure to hold a button (or not), depending on what config you chose. The default is to hold L during boot. In my example above, I don't have to hold anything to launch menuhax, but if I hold R, then menuhax won't launch.
Now to set it to boot rxTools instead, download the latest CTRBootManager. Rename the boot.3dsx that is on your SD card to boot_hb.3dsx. Then place the boot.3dsx and boot.cfg from the CTRBootManager download onto your SD card root.
OPTIONAL: Open up boot.cfg with notepad and change this:
// Default timeout in secondes
// If timeout = -1, disable autoboot
timeout = 3;
to this:
// Default timeout in secondes
// If timeout = -1, disable autoboot
timeout = 0;
Now save the boot.cfg, eject your SD, and put it in your 3DS

When you turn on your 3DS, you should see the red screen, followed by the rxTools splash screen. If you chose a custom button setup in the Menuhax installer, keep that in mind. By default, you must hold L when booting to let Menuhax run at boot-up. In my case, I chose TYPE 2, and selected the button R. This means that Menuhax will always run at boot unless I hold R (which would bring me to sysnand instead of rxTools)

AWESOME.

I'm having one issue, i can't get rxtools nightly to boot. It just boots black. In the rxtools 2.6 i just put the firmware.bin on the root of the sd card. Now when i click cnd_firm.py i get 3 different .bins.. which one do i use and where do i put it? I think that's what i'm doing wrong.

So far i'm auto booting into Homebrew launcher so making progress :)

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
    You should update the 360 to newest dash before RGHing it yes. But not a big deal if you don't, you can install new dash/avatar updates after. It's just easier to do it auto online before, instead manual offline after.

    @BigOnYa I wanted to ask you about your experience with seeing south park. Most of the people a bit younger like my younger brother and cousins that are a few younger than me that saw kids found south park funny because of the curse words, kids at school, that seemed like liking the show on a very basic level.

    I could not quite have a in depth discussion of the show.

    How was it for you? As an adult. What did you find the most interesting part about it. Did you relate to the parents of the kids and their situations. Was it satires, the commentary on society. The references on celebrities' and pop culture.

    @BigOnYa were you always up to date on the current events and issues of the time or were there issues that you first found out thru south park

    Most of the time yea I knew, I watch and read the news regularly, but sometimes the Hollywood BS stuff, like concerning actors slip by me. I don't follow most Hollywood BS (example: the Kardasians)

    @BigOnYa there were relevant issues before south park was made, that's why i think a south park prequel/spinoff would be great. Randy and his friends in their child hood

    Yea, like them running in high school together, getting into stuff, and how they got hitched and had kids. And how the town of South Park was back then compared to now. That would be cool to see.
