Hacking If I buy a 2DS in January, where can I get one < 9.2?

I want to buy a 2DS for my sister and use rxTools, what consoles, stores or "bundles" are safe right now?
I can only buy on Internet, so there's that.

I actually don't know really, I also heard about some Tomodachi Life bundles on Europe with 9.9 but I'm going to buy it in America anyway.
Buying a 2DS without any game should be safer, right? They are also at the same price, but if they come with < 9.2 I really wouldn't care about that lol

Pretty much. Last time i checked just avoid the yo-kai watch bundled 2ds at all cost and OP should be fine. Look for a used one if possible so you can see what firmware it has first hand.

I got the 2DS MK7 bundle and it came on 6.0.0. I've heard A LOT of people getting the same firmwares. The highest I've heard of for that bundle is 7.0.0, which is still below 9.2.

Pro tipp: at gamestop, look at the label, there is a data on the price sticker when they booked it in. 9.2 released around dec'14

I recently bought an 2DS, i got a download-able New Super Mario Bros 2 with the box instead of the game cart itself.. It came on version 6.0.0

yeah, don't worry about the 2DS's being on 9.2+, as the 2DS was made a long time ago, so it is on older FW, mine was 6.0 fw, the blue/black one
not sure about the transparent blue/red pokemon themed 2DS's?

also to upgrade to 9.2fw you'll need a game that has the update 9.2 on it, like:

tamagochi life,
cooking mama bon appetite,
gardening mama
etc,
for what games have what FW, check 3DS.essh

Yes - old 3DS/XL/2DS were being manufactured until firmware 8.1. At 9.0 they started manufacturing the new 3DS (except some places with late release dates might have still had some old 3DS XL at 9.0 but that would definitely be the latest).

Edit: Remember this is New and Unopened only!

Just pick up any o3dsxl new, not refurbished/used/slightly used/ slightly new/open but still new/open to take a picture and put back/etc...etc..., GET NEW.

I wouldn't trust a seller who opens it and claims to only take a picture, because often you'll find out it's been updated, and the seller forgot to advise "oh ya, I powered it up and tested it"
