This isn't deep rooted rant..Nothing that's too over the top. But it honestly seems like Nintendo is squatting over it's fans and just taking a big large liquidy deuce. There's a lot of reasons why one should feel Nintendo lives to make it's fans feel like shit.

1. The whole youtube thing. They made a big deal about it. One would make the argument that "Hey, it's their games. Blah blah blah, they don't want people making money off of them." or something like that. To me, it feels like their just finding more and more reasons to make more money off of their fans. They are no different from capcom in the terms of squeezing as much money as they can, and no one gets on them about it. I could understand if it was pirating. I could understand if it's uploading their music or something like that. But making people suffer for merely watching game play? No one could use the argument that it hurts them, cause it not only gives them free advertisement, but people should have the ability to show their games to others. If this were a problem, then Nintendo would have to charge you every time you showed a friend Mario kart 8 when they came over even though they don't own the game.

2. Legit fan games are always taken down. What do I mean by legit fan games? I mean games that are not rom hacks. I'm not putting down rom hacks, but they are still using games that Nintendo legally made but with modifications. I'm talking about games made in rpg maker, or game maker studio that might use stuff completely made by who ever made them. "But Nintendo legally owns all of the games! People can't just do the things their doing and make them for money!" I'm going to be honest with you. No fan game that I've seen has ever forked over money to play it. All fan games are free. Donations do not count. Donations is the money given to the workers of said fan game, not to play the actual game. I may just be biased, but I have never seen a crash bandicoot fan game or any other type of fan game taken down by their respective companies. Does Nintendo feel threatened by it's own fans? Does Nintendo just go "He maketa game betta den ours. Why we no think of this? Go around the internet and take down all the copies!" (-coughs.-) It's silly. Yeah, I know it somehow falls under copyright, but if I made an awesome cool game (I'm a training game developer.) and some fans thought it'd be cool to make a fan game of my game, would I be upset? Yeah, if they were selling the game for money. But if they were doing it for free, and they spent time and stuff to make it, I wouldn't be. I know that they probably had to take time to do this, and they actually liked my game enough to make a fan rendition of it. There are a few things that might not be alright..If they made a fan game that for some reason resembled the full one or something like that. That wouldn't be alright. But let's face it...Most Nintendo fan games that are word for word like the original game are usually old retro games that feel more like a Chinese rip off. Super Mario 64 was just a unity game with hd graphics and one level. It wasn't even that much like the original.

3. Consoles. I don't have much to say about this, but is it just me or does Nintendo seem really cocky? They've been making these weird consoles after the gamecube (Which was weird itself in it's own way.), and it's not been what the fans wanted at all. I know I've never gone "Hmm..Gee, I sure love Nintendo games, but I want to get exercise. I wish I was more involved physically and more on my feet when I play games!" once in my life. Don't get me wrong..The Wii had some good games, but most of them you had to stand on your feet in your living room to play, or shake your hands with a phallic controller in hand. No one though it'd be fun to do that. I wanted a gamecube 2 or something..You know, something with an actual controller? And the Wii U? It was definitely a step in the right direction. Still has a weird bulky controller..But it's a controller. It's nice to have a screen to play on sometimes, even though it doesn't work for everything. But third party support and ports just make me cri...

Also the portable consoles are just cheap. No, I don't mean their cheap cheap, I mean they are essentially the system Nintendo should have made in the first place. They are using the fact that they are the only real giant in the portable console business to get away with this. "Have a 3ds? Why are you so poor!? Don't you know we made the 3ds xl? It's much bigger, better scaling on games, and it's so much cuter. And if you like this, just wait..We're going to make a cheaper 3ds, but make it 2d so you can give to your kids, and instead of correcting mistakes with the current 3ds, we're going to make an absolutely new 3ds with a better cpu and a new browser that's actually not poop. We'll even make a new 3ds xl, cause why not? You're going to buy them anyways."

But that's just me. What do you guys think? I'm not going to stop playing Nintendo games, but I don't exactly think they're the best people either.

Yeah, they really don't. They only care about their money and if they can make more money than they already make. Like VinsCool said, Money talks bro

Edit: It's almost like a challenge
"CAN WE MAKE MORE MONEY THEN WE ALREADY MAKE?!"
"Well--uh--I have an idea. We could make a new game--"
"WE SHOULD SUE SOMEONE?! GOOD IDEA!"

Nintendo is Nintendo.

And when I say that, I mean-

They've been doing their own thing since the late 1800s. The winds of change shift, but Nintendo does what it wants to do. If a consumer likes it, they're in for a fun ride. If a consumer doesn't... Nintendo won't change their ways for them.

Stubborness and the desire to go their own way are the hallmarks of Nintendo's longterm corporate strategy.

It's not that they hate you. It's that they don't care if you hate them.

It's just so dumb. I understand they're a bit behind..But this pretty much like being the beggars of the video game industry. Plus they have all this money to experiment with zany motion controls, second screens and make so many iterations of the same console that it'd put square enix to shame, but yet to make something up to par. Their decisions are close to mirroring Sega's downfall.

yeah, I get what you mean. But the question is, why should they care in general?

I read what you say, I can't disagree, but I'm still going to buy games from them that I want. How these reasons pertain to me.

1.) I don't watch gameplay videos other than the ones by Cinemassacre, so that doesn't really affect me.

2.) I don't play fan games, so that doesn't really affect me.

3.) I just take the good and don't really deal with the bad. I have a few Wii and Wii U games, and they're all good, so it's a case of liking a console because they have good games some times. I'm not in a position to create a massive library or even collect games. So I can't necessarily bash a console, because I barely play video games as it is.

I think a lot of people forget that big companies have many different sections of people working different jobs, and the actions of one doesn't necessarily reflect on the rest. Plus, it's a job. It's what people do every day to make a living. Of course they aren't all enthusiastic about it.

And the Wii U? It was definitely a step in the right direction.

That's the first time I've ever seen someone feel that way.

Heh, I think I've seen worse from some other companies, but yeah, Nintendo as of late is being really shitty.
Still, as long as they continue making good games, I don't really care too much.

The Wii U had potential IN THE BEGINNING. Third parties were on board with it (it was getting releases like Resident Evil Revelations and the Arkham games), but Nintendo dropped all its eggs by kicking those third parties in the gut and then releasing the system at an absurd price point. So third parties stopped producing for it, people stopped buying it, and the rest is history.

I say that because it wasn't all a gimmick. It seemed like they were actually "trying" to do better.

Four words: Geno Mii Fighter costume.
That would be awesome.

Oh no, their games are fine. Even though they have a lack of intellectual properties, their games are nice. Kind of waiting for a decent Wario game though..

The reason that most 3rd party developers dropped was because of how undocumented the system was, and that most of the online features didn't work at all until a couple of days before release.

@2: I know of plenty of fan games that don't get shut down. Don't make direct copies of their games and they don't care.
Of course they're going to shut you down if you directly remake one of their games, then you're letting anyone play their game without having to pay pretty much. Make your own stuff using their assets they don't care as long as you're not making money off of it.

One word.

Money.
Sony, Apple, and MS like that stuff too you know.

Please, people, stop saying greed is the reason for Company X's lack of performance. They're all greedy.
The discussion should be in what Company X does for it's customers to earn that money.
