Possible things:
  • playing backup games from SD or USB (USB Loader GX like) without the need of hosting files
  • importing/exporting savegames to SD and maybe USB
  • importing/exporting Miis to SD and maybe USB
  • disabling format warning when USB drive for vWii mode is connected when Wii U starts
  • maybe disabling firmware updates
  • any kind of homebrew (apps) like WiiMC (media center) - maybe even KODI? God that would be great!
  • emuNAND - the greatest of all possible things
  • a homebrew channel
  • use DLCs together with backups (like a fully unlocked Mario Kart 8 and so on)
  • Wii games could be launched through Wii U mode as injected VCs so using vWii could become pointless
  • launching Nintendont through Wii U mode to make it run in 1080p
(orange points have been added later thanks to ideas by our users or myself)

With emuNAND it'd be possible to "store" your Wii U on SD or USB so there's "unlimited" space for savegames and channels (which can be native channels, VCs or Wii U Ware games) and ...
... mobility! You can have your emuNAND with all your savegames and Miis on a SD card and just take the SD with you to a friend with another softmodded Wii U to continue your savegames with your Miis there.

These (without the orange stuff) are the main points as far as I know.

What I'm really curious about and praying for is the connection of vWii mode and Wii U mode.
It'd be so great to have a launcher in the Wii U main menu which can launch from a big USB drive
  • Wii U games
  • Wii U VC and eShop games (thanks to emuNAND)
  • Wii games
  • Wii VC and WiiWare games (thankts to emuNAND)
  • Gamecube games (thanks to Nintendont)
  • Emulators (thanks to homebrew)
  • Wii U channels like Amazon Prime
or even port KODI to Wii U (to view movies, tv shows and music from NAS or USB) with the ability to launch USB games (from the list above) solved through some kind of addon. That would make the Wii U a wet dream for every TV owner and games lover on this planet.

Does someone with enough knowledge know, if it's possible to get into stuff from vWii inside the Wii U mode or are they really deadly separated?
It would be nice as well to create new Miis (when a new friend visits me) just once and have them in vWii mode and Wii U mode without the need to create them twice. Of course they can just use the Wii Mii tileset then because Wii U Miis with new hairstyles and stuff won't be readable in vWii mode.

Edit: I just found out that some aspects of my post are already in the "Hykem's 5.5 iosu Exploit" thread so sorry for double posting. What's still recent is my question about the connection between vWii and Wii U mode. I'd be really thankful for any answers in this direction.

Add receivers to the Gamepad remote controllers, pls
Wii HD, kappa
And maybe RGB mode
There's a lot of cool things to come around if vWii and Wii U are really not deadly separated.
  • a "launcher for everything"
  • playing Wii games just on the tablet controller
  • simultan Miis
  • and so on

vWii and WiiU run on different NAND/s and chips in the consoles hardware, so an "all for one" menu will probably not be possible. You will need to launch either WiiU mode or vWii mode respectively for what you want to run, not to mention vWii will need to boot up to run the Wii/GC/VC games anyway. I'm not a coder, but it would probably take a lot of work to get that type of functionality, not to mention launching vWii mode doesn't take long at all, and it's already hacked. I see more devs working on WiiU exclusive hacks before moving on to adding vWii functionality. Even if someone does make an all in one menu, there's likely no way to get around the boot time for calling the vWii NAND anyway since it would be required for those games.

Yea, Wii games on the eShop can use the GamePad as a controller, could we use the GamePad with any Wii game in the future Maybe? Who knows...
Also, there could be another way to install the HBC without a game?

That's what I was afraid of. I wouldn't mind any boot time as long as I've got everything in one launcher. But of course WiiU exclusive stuff comes first.

Hey yeah, that's something I've forgotten. Maybe it will be possible through "injection" to get all Wii games as Wii U VCs (which will be installable into the Wii U emuNAND on HDD in future I guess). But that's a long way to go I think.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Another way I could think of is the way Nintendont works since it's making GC games playable in vWii although not officially supported.
Maybe Wii games in Wii U mode can be made accessable the same way.
There might be different NANDs and chips for each but the cpu architecture is the same as far as I know so it should be possible.

First of all, sorry for my bad english. I am from Germany.

If you are realy interested in things like Kodi / Emulators etc., you should be fine with a 150 Bucks Nvidia Shield or something like that.

Guess the days of great emulation on hacked consoles (like the first xbox / wii era) are over. There is no reason for waiting month / years just to play games from NES up to Dreamcast. You can allready have that including a native Kodi-port in these cheap but powerful Android-Boxes.

The only reason I honestly can think of is playing ("pirating") games that I would have never bought because they aren't good value for money.
And of course, playing my Discs right from the SD/USB, without changing discs all the time. But hey, that wasn't that bad.

There's already injection of DS games, GBA games, NES games, SNES games, N64 games, maybe it's not really that far away.

Also, maybe we can get Nintendon't as a Wii U Homebrew for real 1080p resolution maybe? Like a port or something of Nintendon't, but I don't actually know if that is possible because the Wii U is less similar to the GC than the Wii is or if even the Wii U can handle GC games at Full HD. Anyway, that would be crazy good.

I'm german as well. :) However ... why would these days be over? A Wii U with IOSU exploit would be the same base as the Wii was before it got all that fency stuff it has today plus: There was a WiiMC which is kinda KODI. Only problem with that: The Wii isn't capable of managing Full HD movies so that's the catch.
Porting KODI might be a bit difficult as stated a few times in various KODI boards around the internet but eben a nice WiiU-MC would be a step in the right direction.
I was thinking about buying a Fire TV as it is cheaper than Nvidia shield, I'm a Amazon PRIME subscriber and I don't have a 4K TV anyway but now there might be no need for that since there will be media center stuff on the Wii U soon I guess. Even if it's still months ... I can wait. Why having two devices on TV when one can do it all?

Would IOSU allow access to 'backed up' or (let's be honest) pirated DLC?
I'd like to play some out of region games with DLC (such as Taiko no Tatsujin) but can't access the japanese e-shop because I don't live in japan.
Games like that have a lot of DLC. Would DLC access be possible, or should I just forget about it altogether? Thanks

As IOSU means even more access than kernel, I think EVERYTHING is possible (including what you mentioned)!

I did not know that. Do eShop Wii games support the Pro Controller as well?

Check. I'm willing to keep the first post up to date.

This title doesn't make any sense, particularly "with IOSU". IOSU already exists. It's like saying "What will be possible with the System Menu"
You're right of course. It should be
with compromitted IOSU or exploit IOSU or anything like that. May a moderator change this.

i dont think these points are really possible
playing backup games from SD or USB (USB Loader GX like) without the need of hosting files
seeing as the exploit still uses the browser exploit to be triggered you will still have to access the exploit pages one way or another (public site, or self hosting)
disabling format warning when USB drive for vWii mode is connected when Wii U starts
as this isnt a exploit that is activated on bootup any format prompts would still be triggered, while the prompt could be blocked kinda, it wouldn't be until after you run the exploit which probably wouldn't help all that much,

and there are a few other "iffy" statements......afaik this was why the other thread was locked, because its all just guess work and hyping.....
oh oh guys i think we can also errrr turn the gamepad into a laser cannon with IOSU support
.....wow cool, i heard it turns it into a boat too
....wow really, this is gonna be soooooo coooooolllllll i will add that to the list of possible things

....... where is my boat...........you...said...it...was...possible..............bastards:angry:

I can see the "IOSU on 5.6.0?" threads coming...
To be clear, there's no 5.6.0 yet.
yeah we should start hunting down "those guys" right now.....you know the "well why did nobody tell me not to update past 5.5.0"......"these hackers are so inconsiderate, they could have at least sent a telegram to everyone in the world in the off chance they wanted a wiiu hack, they had better hurry up with 6.3.2 support"
