I distracteley thought I was inserting it into the slot of the SD and instead I ended inserting it on the Disc tray, the tray activated and it dragged it inside.

I did that once... Took ages to fish it out, and ended up damaging the disc tray's motor.
I think you need to open up your Wii if you want it out without breaking anything.

Tbh I use the USB ports nowadays to load games, but yeah it would be very annoying.

I think i'll end waiting for the tri wing screws unless someone here has a solution.

i'm sorry but how is this fail nintendo's fault? how do you make a disc drive that you can't mistakenly put a sd card into? i mean not saying you're the worlds biggest idiot or anything. everyone makes mistakes, but the only fail here is yours.

To be honest, I prefer the PC and PS2 Phat or Lite way of handling DVD's rather than the way the wii does, my dislike started after a little cousin of mine shoved a lego down the disc tray of the wii and I had to pay for it to be removed, I had my wii in the technician shop for nearly a month until the guy got on his arse to do the job.

I find that the width of the tray or the design in and out of itself lends itself to such problems, I dobut it would be as easy to do this with a PC tray or a PS2 Phat/lite tray (as it happens I do own the latter PS2 model)

slot loading is a step faster in a sense there's no need to press eject for tray to insert disc. inserting disc vertically if your wii is placed as a tower is easier than with a tray.

there are only about 4 different screws you need to remember opening the wii. unless you have no intention to remove the drive, it would make it 5.

I have no intention of removing the drive, I do have intentions of substituting the screws.

When we got our Wii, I was always scared to death of doing this. I wouldn't even touch the SD card because I was afraid I would lose it in the disc slot.

I used 2 paper clips to remove a sd card out of my laptop's slot loader. You can probably do the same thing with proper planning and coordination.

Just be aware that the card could very well scratch the lens in the disc drive.

Hence why my wii is powered off and left as it was.

You could try easing it out at an angle with a plastic knife.

Will try it tomorrow while I wait for the screwdriver to arrive.

It would be great if I could see the SD card, but I can't.

Sorry. I couldn't help but laught out loud about this fail :rofl2:

Trust me I would've laughed too if it wasn't for the annoyance I am feeling.

Can't use my wii and I seriously wanted to Marathon all my Zelda games and see if I could get on Zelda I and II seeing as those are the only games I have yet to beat (I have finished OOT and MM, next on my list were, WW, TP, SS, ALTTP, OOA, OOS, Link's Awakening and then Zelda I and II)

You could use a paper clip or something thin to "scan" for the sd card. You need to curve the paper clip to form a blunt end and bend the end in to avoid hooking onto something accidentally. It takes a lot of planning and coordination to pull off but it isn't impossible.
