I would say no, because there isnt a 5k or retina display, the two ssd is what skyrocketed the price the processor itself is worth about $700, and no OS. probably eaier to assembly a better performance computer than that laptop

Lesser Video Card, lesser CPU, and older memory architecture for a laptop that costs almost as much. Not sure I'd say this deal is much better than what he found.

Edit: The branding does scare me a bit though. What the heck is a Clevo?

I heard that Razor laptops are terribly loud and get pretty hot, so no option for me. Also Razor is apparently US only?

I would say no, because there isnt a 5k or retina display, the two ssd is what skyrocketed the price the processor itself is worth about $700, and no OS. probably eaier to assembly a better performance computer than that laptop

I was thinking it's best to go without HDDs at all to reduce the noise to a minimum. And since SSDs die faster I selected the ones with the largest lifespan. Not sure if I should go with a 970M 6GB instead of a 980m. Basically what I want is to use Nvidia Gamestream at 1080p60 on most games, but I'm not sure the 970m is powerful enough.

You don't need a 980m. Atm, 970m can play anything at 1080p60. And in terms of future proofing yourself, it's still not worth it. Since you can buy an MSI Apache pro GE62 with

For 1,5k USD. Or 1,7k cad. Which will play all games for the next 2-3 on high no problem. Then if it falls behind, you can sell it/use a warranty and get the latest one at that price point again.

So overall, for the same price, you can buy two cutting edge laptops that will run everything with ease.

Also, gaming laptop battery lives and general lives don't last so long. After a few years you'll want to replace it, and will be happy you didn't spend 3k+ on it

I would honestly recommend the new surface book from microsoft. The only benefit from razor is you can tell your friends you have one and it has that dope touch pad

Well It is the coolest laptop that runs windows I think. The design is slick and its powerful. Just because your looking for a gaming laptop doesn't mean it has to be a gaming brand.

What graphics card? Surface Pro doesn't even have a dedicated graphics chip!
...but it's not exactly useless for gaming. SP1 could run CivV and XCOM fairly well (on low graphics) and the SP4 has integrated graphics several times stronger.

Edit: also, regarding Clevo/Sager, it's a Taiwanese OEM, not Chinese. I often see budget laptops by them (usually with faulty screens, but w/e).

The Surface Pro 4 has the option of three GPUs depending on which model you choose to go with. The base model is the Core m3-6Y30, which has the Intel HD 515 graphics with 24 execution units and a maximum frequency of 850 Mhz. The Core i5-6300U, which is the processor in the review sample, steps up to Intel HD 520 graphics, which has the same 24 execution units but with a maximum frequency of 1 GHz and more overall headroom for reduced throttling. Finally, if you select the top Core i7-6650U there is a bit of an upgrade, with this processor sporting the Intel Iris 540 graphics which is the GT3e model. keep the 980 for a bit more future proofing, keep 16GB ram, you could even get lower speed ram for cheaper and A 512GB EVO series SSD. for the WiFi, you will be fine with stock Intel.
