Hi guys, I have seen a lot of people arguing about how to install cia's for online play and I want to know once and for all, can anything go wrong or I can just install what ever cia I want and I wont get banned?

and if so is there anything I should know about before installing them

and how do I apply dlc? :O?

There are no steps to "Not getting banned" with cia games. Just install and play online

DLC is installed as a .cia file as well. Game updates can be installed as cia, or from the Eshop itself.

Cia files come from the Eshop, it's what your 3DS installs when you download games/updates/DLC from the Eshop. Just as a small trivia on cia.

As for games that are in cia format that are not on the Eshop, users have converted 3DS roms to cia format themselves.

Thanks mate, another question, installing a theme as cia is as simple as installing a game as a cia?(FBI)

Yep, anything .cia you can install with FBI/DevMen/BigBlueMenu.
But when it comes to using custom themes, those can be installed via a homebrew app called CHMM without the need for cia installing.

Almost, except installing a theme CIA overwrites you theme set. So you're basically installing a "theme pack" CIA.
so I should basically uninstall the last pack I used before switching to another?

how can I know what is the latest update to a game or find out what are all of its DLCs?

i'll hate to get the wrong ones for every game I have

I think you can overwrite it, but I'm not sure as I haven't done it yet.

To reiterate, .cia files are safe. You won't get banned with them. No need for headers or anything special. For themes, I recommend just using CHMM to avoid any hassle. You can even make your own themes and use them. If you're interested in stickers, they're also simple enough to obtain all of.

You'd have to research what the latest game update is if you're going for the cia version of it. Other than that, just get it from Eshop. Just know that when you enter Eshop, all theme and DLC installed as cia, will be gone and you'll have to reinstall the cia for them.

As for DLC, you'll usually find the DLC all in one cia. For ex: For the latest smash bros DLC, you'll find it as one single cia file that contains all the new content plus the old content.

Also if you install an older update cia, just simply find and install the later update cia. No limit to how many times you can install cia.

so when I enter Eshop only the DLC and themes are gone right? nothing like game cias or my fbi cia?

and another thing, when I do enter the eshop how do I update the game without accidently updating sysnand or something like that?

Yep only the DLC and themes will be gone (Though custom themes will always remain). Installing the DLC again is a simple fix, so keep all the DLC cia on your SD card forever.

To get game updates from Eshop (Easiest method for getting game updates), type in the search box "updates" and you can scroll all the game updates and install them. You can even install game updates for games you don't even have.

Don't just click OK, always read the text.

I guess following this there's no chance to get banned while playing online, actually that's what I do:

- Play CIAs of your console region
- Do not play hacked cias
- Do not play with modified saves like everthing in your game is 999 like RPGs maybe
- Install DLCs and Updates that you download in CIA format and not from the eShop

I think that's all

Modding saves is fine just don't cheat online
