My 2 cents on what makes GBAtemp so great

I've found myself searching for several other forums (not necessarily gaming-related) on a certain topic, and I feel like GBAtemp has spoiled me in the sense that it has a design that is centred around initiating discussion, and I'm referring specifically to the home page here

It's great. News headlines, recent posts (this is the biggest one in my opinion), and a shout box

Has anyone else tried joining a new forum after GBAtemp and found it so difficult, because the navigation is just so counterintuitive/uncomfortable?

Especially the 'Recent Posts' thing. It's shocking how many forums just don't have that. I don't know about you, but I don't want to visit each section individually to see recent content

There's obviously a truly great community here, but by far the biggest disparity between this forum and others is just that navigating this site comes along so naturally I think

And yes, I TOTALLY agree with every point you've made. This is the first forum I've ever joined and other forums feel like a definite step backwards in comparison

Like ive joined other forums and none of them feel like home.
Gamefaqs is fine, just dont be an idiot
theVitaLounge is ok but they are still running a vanilla Xen skin and dont have a lot of the new custom stuff we do
SuperCard forums are cool, but its a translation of Chinese so not much of it makes sense. But I do really like how things are layed out.

Something you guys might not realize right away is that we do a lot behind the scenes to facilitate and encourage a GBAtemp Community.

This isn't the first forum I have joined. It's also not the first I stuck with as well. Many of which are general life discussion forums and forums all about getting used to new life obstacles such as disabilities and handicaps. There are so many forums out there. GBAtemp is by far the best I've stuck with so far. 95% of the users are super friendly and helpful as well. ( I've met some pretty mean people on here. ) Even if issues aren't about games or even technology, you can always find nice and helpful people here.

Just ask about kernel above 9.2 and... Well, that percentage goes down pretty quickly!

Good reasonable mods
Members who are respectful
The threads are generally interesting
Very mobile friendly

i started on gbatemp, i liked, i stayed, its the only forum i use...

This is the only good gaming forum with actual activity I've run into so far.
I've been on others that I mostly quit, forums specific to a game to be precise. Quit because of losing general interest in said game(s). I mean, I still like these games, it's just, don't have the motivation to play anymore (Pokémon), or I just plain lost interest and got bored of it (Runescape).
I would probably still hang around the Pokémon ones and I kinda do, check them every so often, but activity severely died down and there isn't much good conversations to be had there.
