I currently own an O3DS in FW 9.9.0.26u running Menuhax, and with the release of Sky3DS+ I have a few questions of the advantages of CFW vs Having Ninjahax + Sky3DS+

Assuming I purchase a Sky3DS+, are there any major differences that I would be missing out if I where to purchase a Sky3DS+ (and possibly updating the FW since Ninjahax works on latest fw) vs Buying an Exploitable 3DS?

I'm not really interested in any fancy stuff like Cheat plugins, HANS + Being able to have backups of my Cartridges is probably enough for me (unless HANS is incompatible with Sky3DS+?)

So what exactly are the major advantages of CFW vs Flashcart + Ninjahax?

You cannot run CFW on anything above 9.2 so sky3ds is your only option... Read up before asking questions in the future

I'm asking what are the benefits of Buying an Exploitable 3DS vs Keeping my current one with ninjahax and buying a Sky3DS

No where in your post does it say anything about getting an exploitable 3ds, I read it twice before commenting...

EDIT: well shit, sorry

You didn't read too

A exploitable 3DS is cheaper and a CFW can do more things than a SKY3DS+

CFW will let you play eShop games and homebrew as installed files. If you don't need a new 3DS, it would make a lot more sense to buy a brand new o3DS or o3DS XL, as they're a) discounted in many places and b) guaranteed exploitable. Sky3DS is really only economical for new 3DS where getting an exploitable console can actually be tricky.

Advantages CFW:

*eShop games.
*DSiware games.
*Full speed GBA games as cias.
*Better emulators also installed as cias.
*Safe online, no private header dealing crap.
*Games & emulators in your home menu, no need to be switching in the cart.

Also, even if you get a Sky3ds+ I would recommend you to stay in 9.9 and use Menuhax 2.0

Switching through all your roms to get to Ninjhax gets tiring pretty fast...

I just realized that Private Headers would indeed be a problem as I do not have any method of extracting those, and emulators actually sound appealing...

I have heard that Powersaves could be used to extract private headers from some games, so you could invest in that if you chose not to get a <=9.2 system instead.

There are some really great eShop exclusive games, off the top of my head:

Gunman Clive
Gunman Clive 2
Retro City Rampage DX
Muttan Mudds
Shantae and the Pirate's Curse
Another World 20th Anniversary
NANO Assault
Steamworld Dig

And many others, they will never run in Sky3ds+, great digital library and buying them will cost you a good percentage of what another o3DS would.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Also, by buying another new o3DS you are supporting Nintendo sales... even if the main goal is to pirate in it...

By buying a Sky3ds+ you are supporting a random bunch off leechers who purposely screw their own customer base to leech even more money off of them.

The rom has data that makes it an executable file, the cia is just the installable files without the executable parts.

When you convert a rom > cia, this gets smaller in part due to all that unneeded executable crap gets thrown out.

So getting a cia > full rom is not possible because this information is missing/non existent.

We can, and people do it to use on GW.
But they wouldn't be able to run on Sky as they aren't properly signed.

People can with Gateway but there is a reason and that's why I specifically said "cia > full rom", Gateway can run any .3ds file wether it is a rom or not (homebrew), so if you take the cia file, manipulate it and convert it into a .3ds file Gateway will be able to run it, but it is not a full working rom, just like how blargsnes.3ds isn't a rom neither...

Wrong, what happens is there's free space, since the full space on the gamecard isn't used, this gets trimmed when converting to a CIA... Everything else (romFS, exheader and other parts) is the same between .3ds and .cia except how it's packaged...
