I'm interested in doing this, could someone explain the entire procedure? My emuNAND is 9.5, sysNAND is 9.0 (on a N3DS).

People have been doing this to recover their 3DS from a brick so I think it should be possible.
Of course, it should only be done as a last resort, if your sysnand is bricked and you don't have an actual sysnand backup.
Not entirely sure how native firm works with emunand and all so maybe it could cause problems, but people have restored 10.3 emunands to their bricked sysnand (from GW brick or from another kind of brick) or so I've heard. Or at least I've heard a reputable member saying this should be possible.

Either way, if your sysnand is already bricked then you don't really have anything to lose by restoring emunand backup to sysnand :P

It's not bricked. I'd like to transfer my data to my sysNAND which is 9.0. I was thinking of downgrading my emuNAND to 9.0 (to gain full compatibility with my sysNAND) and flashing it on my sysNAND using the Gateway launcher.
Xenon, it's because I want to update it to 10.3 without losing my emuNAND data (it's not mine, a friend of mine asked me about this procedure, I've already told him he's going to regret it).

So, should I modify the 9.0 emuNAND.bin? Can I flash it as is? Would I run any risk?

Transferring data is one thing, but flashing your emunand over your sysnand is another. Don't confuse the 2 ideas

They're separated: I need my sysNAND to become the same as my emuNAND for it to read my emuNAND files on the SD.

If he's using gateway, he can restore the nand by pressing D-pad up while choosing backup nand option
Not if he flashes 9.5 without a hard mod (-‸ლ)

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Can emunand itself even downgraded?

also, what are the dangers/steps to make it right
You can use Sysupdater to downgrade Emunand but first make a backup with Emunand tool.

Exactly what I was going to do: downgrading my emuNAND using sysUpdater to 9.0 and flashing it using Gateway launcher. Is there any risk in doing so?

My emuNAND contains all the data and is separated from my sysNAND: I have to transfer that data to my sysNAND. I think downgrading and flashing is the best option; is there anything else I can do?

That may just make a brick once they restore that to sysnand because you'd have "updated" with sysupdater while firmlaunch is enabled.
That may work in emunand because it's designed around using a native firm different from the one in nand but I don't know if that could cause problems once you restore that to sysnand.

Just one thing to keep in mind. I may be wrong but worth asking around about this before doing something potentially stupid.

Also naturally any pirated games installed via .cia will not work anymore.

I'm not home I'm at Walmart all he has to do is load up HBL with mini pasta in Synand and use sysupdater

Oh, I've probably got what you're telling me: if I update the sysNAND using the same package for emuNAND's update, my N3DS will be able to read files in the folder as of now accessed by emuNAND, won't it?
