There is no way for him to force the system to think the initial tutorial is already done? Just curious.
This happens when you install a o3ds nand on 2ds, am I right? I'm surprised it actually boots.

He probably downgraded MSET to one from 4.x on his 2DS, which results in this soft-brick when formatting (it asks for you to move the 3D slider, which is impossible, since the 2DS doesn't have one in the first place). If you have no sysNAND backup from before you did this, you're out of luck. If you do, get a NAND mod done.

The lesson to be learned here for future visitors: never downgrade MSET to 4.x on 2DS, as once you format, it's brick city.
But this only means MSET 4.X it's different for 2DS? Should a MSET dump from a target 2ds (4.X) allow users of 2ds to downgrade MSET safely?

Thanks but it's not the downgrade MSET who do this but i think, it's when you update your sysnand an offline. I used the same file that i use with all my 3DS. I guess 2DS and 3DS aren't the same file on her FW.

it's like the PSP and PSP Go, the firmware are different :(

I would assume so, but I can't say for sure, as I don't own a 2DS (I was seriously tempted to buy one during the Black Friday sale, but opted not to, heh).
You can easily find exploitable Pink 2DS with tomodachi life pretty cheap; no one wants them hehe. If you are lucky enough, the first version of the black/blue 2DS with pokemon Y pack shouldn't be so pricey, and I think it comes in 7.1.0.

All 2DS except the Yo-Kai Watch bundle are safe.
