Can someone please explain? I would very much like to understand what's so marvellous about all of it.

I wasn't aware people like watching "unboxing chocolates"? But unboxing videos in general people watch because A) they like seeing what's included in XYZ thing that's being unboxed, and B) they like watching people's reactions to whatever XYZ is.

As for Let's Plays, some people watch them for the game, some people watch them for the "commentary", some people watch them for both. I don't really find any interest in them myself, most of them are either incredibly annoying screaming or just plan boring conversations, but I can see why it might appeal to some people. The common response to questions like these are "why do people watch other people play sports?", the answer is pretty much the same.

The better question is, what does it matter what other people like to watch?

My little cousin is like 5, she loves watching these kinds of videos. I guess it'd be similar to how I like to watch CSGO Case openings sometimes. I don't have the money to attempt to get something really valuable, but I can watch someone else try and either fail miserably, or get lucky and get like a $300 knife.

I also like to watch unboxings for tech products, because it can be informative to know what you can expect to see in the box.

Physical sports are different because that takes physical skill and not everyone is capable of doing it but even then, that's not of my interest either.

And playing games don't require skill? If that's the case, why do so many people watch CSGO tournaments, or Star Craft, or LoL, or DOTA, or Street Fighter etc etc etc?

It's the same premise, people like watching other people engage in an activity they can't. Whether it's opening boxes, watching some guy build a giant dick in Minecraft, fuck up people in CS, play football, golf, baseball, whatever.

what do adults find so fascinating about watching people unwrap presents that they invented like half a dozen occasions where you can giftwrap shit for others?

they watch others be happy about getting stuff and because they do have the gift of empathy, it makes them feel nice too

Also it's less effort.
I don't have the motivation to play a game, but watching someone play it, I can just sit there and watch, while I also do something else.

I like to watch games being played I can't yet afford. That was the biggest draw to lp's for me, at first. Then I started enjoying the commentary or banter. There are also games I will never take the time to play but don't mind watching.

But yeah I have no idea either. Curated, edited and maybe planned (there are some that can do things more spontaneously, they are few and far between though) are where it is at and has always been at for me.

You seem obnoxiously ignorant but i'll sum it up.

People watch LPs because they're entertainment. Same as any TV show or movie.

Same thing for unboxing I guess. Sometimes it's also informative to see whats in a box.
Playing a game is one thing but Let's Play commentators scream and say stupid stuff to be "comedic" so that's not exactly quality entertainment.

Don't watch shit LPers then?
Just like there's bad TV, there's bad LPs.

What a concept.

I am sure there is good Christian metal as well, the effort required to find such a thing though makes it not worth the effort. I dare say the good to bad ratio in let's play, and the subsequent probability of being able to cut through it, is probably less favourable than the subject of the first sentence.

It's not that difficult really. (certainly not as difficult as trying to read what you call English)
I started out hating LPs until I slowly found more and more people that were good to watch. Usually good LPers stick together so it's rather easy to branch out.

and of course the classic saying
if you don't like it, don't watch it

No one is sitting here forcing anyone to watch LPs, so I really don't know why people give even one ounce of a shit that people do. I can't stand soap operas but you don't see me making threads "Why do these grannies watch this shit?!"
