Hacking Need help I am completely lost. New 3ds xl cfw/emunand install.

Hello. Recently I installed cfw, emunand, and rxtools. However luckily I found a new 3ds xl at my local target with version 9.0.0-20U. I was directed to this thread for hacking my 2ds https://gbatemp.net/threads/tutorial-installing-rxtools-custom-firmware-3ds-and-2ds.390867/ . I tried following this thread for the New 3ds xl parts, but however when I get to booting into Gateway Ultra via the browser. After I have put Launcher.dat on the root of my Micro SD card, and then going to the browser and putting in the url go.gateway-3ds.com I get the message "Gateway 3DS LOADING...". Just a black screen with white text, and nothing actually ever loads. I was hoping someone good give me any new advice on what I have to do diffrently then when I installed emunand on the 2ds, and if anyone had a solution to this problem. Thanks!

what do you have at your disposal? cubic ninja? oot? anything like that? give me everything you got to work with.

also before you format emunand make sure to install a CIA manager (i recommend bigbluemenu). otherwise you wont be able to get one on your emunand.

If you read the title again you'll notice that the tutorial you linked is named [Tutorial] Installing rxTools Custom Firmware - (3DS and 2DS) do you see that it says N3DS somewhere? No right, yeah I guessed it... That is because is not for N3DS. Use this instead:

@dimmidice He can still get a cia manager after formatting emunand, stop smoking whatever you are smoking, it doesn't help.

"It won't work" because you can't just go to go.gateway-3ds.com and expect it to work like an old 3DS, even in the specific bit that you quoted:

no, he really can't. unless my information is completely wrong (and i googled and looked it up yesterday so) if there's a way though you'd be better off simply saying the way to do it (even just briefly) instead of being a snarky asshat

If he creates emunand first it doesn't lock him out of having a cia manager, he can still get a cia manager by using PastaCFW or CakesFW while his NANDS are still linked since they both point to the same files.

It would be a totally different case if he creates emunand, unlinks it and updates all together while not having a cia manager.

I currently have cubic ninja, but could get oot for my sky3ds.

If he creates emunand first it doesn't lock him out of having a cia manager, he can still get a cia manager by using PastaCFW or CakesFW while his NANDS are still linked since they both point to the same files.

Also in the thread it mentions instructions for N3DS.

Okay if you have cubicninja here's how to get to the gateway launcher. have the launcher.dat on root of your SD card, open cubicninja (have internet on of course) delete the savegame by holding l+r+x+y at the main menu (the menu where it asks what you want to do, not the screen before that), then QR code > scan QR code. but then scan this code instead. http://imgur.com/WDaUG1C

if you need to use cubicninja again just delete savefile and rescan the ninjhax QR code again. there might be other ways to get to the gateway launcher but this is how i did it yesterday. it's a bit of a hassle i admit.

oh just to make sure you don't make the same mistake i did. don't update your N3DS's emunand to 10.3 rxtools doesn't work on N3DS 10.3 it only goes upto 9.5 if you need to know how to update to 9.5 just lemme know.

So will I have to use the eshop hack in HBL to access the eshop? And what would be the big difference between 9.0.0-20U and 9.5?

9.5 lets you use the badge arcade and lets you place badges (albeit with a workaround) other than that i'm not really sure.
and yes you'l have to use the eshop spoofer, but the one i'm using doesn't fully work. i'm gonna look for a better one right now actually

Alright I've gotten down to the part where it's booting into emunand. It says

If you want to use rxTools, you need :
- rxTools nightly : http://jheberg.net/captcha/rxtools-2015-11-19-265d53e/

1. Create a firm folder inside the rxTools folder, copy the firmware9.5.bin in it
2. Rename the firmware 9.5.bin 0004013820000002.bin. Then copy the rxTools folder on your micro-sd card root
3. Copy the rxTools folder from the ninjhax folder in your "3ds" folder.
4. Then start rxTools from the HBL. Press a key at the end of the data installation to boot into your emunand.

How do I get that firmware.bin I have one from the python download but there are 3 files with all different numbers then that one.

i've had that problem 2 days ago too. i'm not sure what the problem is. try a few different RXtools version and if all else fail format emunand again.

if you want i can zip up my files and you can try those?

I guess. Okay one question the thread I'm using to do this states the firmware is 9.5 for the bin. Do I need a certain one for my sysnand because it is 9.0.0-20U or since it's emunand it doesn't matter. Also that would be great if you could. Thanks.
