I first tried this tutorial, which resulted in my having the Unity Dev app on my livescreen, but when trying to launch it, I got a message saying the app is not PSTV compatible.

Next I tried this tutorial, which goes fine up until resuming the update. It'll change to 5MB, but at the end, it says it failed to install with an error code C1-2738-0. The readme included in the download states that this is normal, and to continue on and install PSM+ for Unity using the guide found here. Having completed that guide, I went back to the readme, which states:

  • 12. You can now open the Unity app and delete the 0000 "app" icon that appeared.
  • 13. You should now only have VitaDefilerClient installed in Unity. Congrats!
However I still have no Unity app installed on the PSTV. I've spent the last few hours reading a myriad of guides, and I still don't have the Unity app installed and working. Can anybody point out where I might be going wrong?

Refer to Part 4 of my hacking guide here,
http://gbatemp.net/threads/guide-th...guide-for-beginners-and-experts-alike.403035/

and start from the sub-heading "Updating PSM Dev for Unity for your firmware". :)
I did have a quick look at your guide, however the method you describe only works on the Vita, as PKG Installer doesn't support WiFi QCMA connections, and the PSTV doesn't connect to other devices via USB. I'd need to buy a Vita with a low FW, install the pkg, then back it up and restore it to my PSTV. It's not really an option for me though as I live in a small town that doesn't sell Vitas, and it's too much of a gamble ordering one online to get one with a compatible firmware, plus I don't really have the money :P.

Thanks for the attempt though :).

Just a thought, but could I provide somebody with my PSN login details, have them log in on their Vita, install the Unity pkg with PKG Installer, back up said package with QCMA, and then have them email it to me, and I restore it on my console?
If someone can confirm this would work, and would be willing to do it for me, I'd gladly send $10 via PayPal for your efforts :).

Haha! :rofl2:
I'd love an extra £4.79 and someone else's PSN account, but it's not much trouble to go to, really. ;)

Truth be told, the purchases on my account are pretty dismal :P. The lengths I'll go to in order to install packages on my PSTV!
All I want is to install Netflix without needing to change regions :rofl2:

But hey, if you're willing to help, I'll send my details over for you

Ah yes! I forgot about some things! :P
All PS Vita apps are region free, including Netflix, so you only have to install the Netflix PKG and Use the PSTV Whitelist Hack to get it to function on your PSTV. (http://hackinformer.com/PlayStationGuide/PSV/INFO_PSTV_WHITELIST.html).

Also, since you only want to install PKGs, you will need to set up the package installer bubble Here: http://hackinformer.com/PlayStationGuide/PSV/INFO_PKGINST.html

I hope that this helps you! :)

Unfortunately like I said earlier, PKG Installer only allows installing PKG files over USB, which the PSTV doesn't support. Someone told me that PSM+ Unity will let you install PKG files over WiFi, so that's the route I need to go. I just need someone who has a Vita to install the Unity app, then back it up with QCMA, so I can restore the backup to my PSTV :).

Well, they told you wrong, then. You're thinking of the method to install PSM Dev for Unity on a >3.20 PSTV (the download intercept method), but with Netflix files instead. I saw a webpage on the Wololo forums somewhere, where there was some files you could install the same way as you could for PSM dev for Unity.

Oh wow, looks like I've been going at this entirely the wrong way then! Thanks for the tip, I'll see what I can dig up!

Alrighty, so thanks to the help of @Voxel Studios, I did manage to get Netflix installed!... Only to find out that it requires you to be signed into PSN, and it appears the proxy trick no longer works, as I get an error saying that the app can't connect to Netflix servers, so that's a bit of a bust.

I am however still trying to get PSM+ Unity installed, so if there's anybody feeling up to the task of signing into my account, installing the required packages and updates, backing it up with QCMA, then emailing the backup to me, there's still a $10 bounty on the line :).

I don't believe it. After having everybody on other forums tell me I can't use the Package Manager on my PSTV due to the lack of WiFi support in the app, and the fact that the PSTV can't connect to QCMA via USB, I just went ahead and tried it anyway, and it worked completely fine over WiFi. I opened CMA on the PSTV, connected to my PC running VitaUpdateBlocker and QCMA, then switched to the Package Installer app, and selected the Content Manager option. Bam, a list of PKG files on my PC. Selected the Unity 1.05 update, and installed it completely fine on my PSTV, and now have a launchable Unity app!

Finally time to get some homebrew up and going!
