Hi.

Okay, now let's get to it.
So, I was playing Rhythm Heaven Fever and everything was going fairly nicely (barring some OK's but fuck Love Rap and that one game with the fishes) until I got to Remix 10. The game just freezes in (what I assume is) a loading screen (I mean, it doesn't even say "loading", it's just a black screen that lasts like 3 seconds in a normal scenario): either before the title screen shows up or after (i.e. before the actual minigame starts). The former happens if I use slot 250 and the latter if I use 249.
For more details, I'm using USB Loader GX and I've also used the d2x cIOS installer thingy. I used v10 beta 52 first, but after running into the issue, I switched to v8-final (or whatever it's actually called), but to no avail. Base IOSes were 56 and 57 in slots 249 and 250, respectively (you know, the usual). My USB drive is a 1TB Seagate Expansion formatted to NTFS with a WBFS folder.

And now, for Kirby's Epic Yarn. Well, long story short, it - for whatever reason - freezes on level 2 (Flower Fields). It's a weird freeze, though, since it's not the whole game that suddenly stops; it's the music that stops playing and the controller that stops working, everything else goes on normally (enemies still walk around, Kirby does his idle animations, etc.)
Apparently, it happens no matter which aforementioned slot/version/base I use.

I have two other games in my USB drive (as of yet): Super Paper Mario and Super Mario Galaxy. From what I've played of them (up to Chapter 5 in the former and as early as Honeyhive Galaxy in the latter), they seem to work flawlessly. Maybe the fact that they're older has something to do with the whole thing? I have no idea.

Even though I'm sure you've already guessed, I figured this would be worth mentioning too, idk: I've basically just softmodded my Wii (it was, like, last week).
So... yeah, I'm pretty lost. Help would be very much appreciated, of course (also here's more parentheses).

E: sorry if this is the wrong forum, btw.

I would reinstall d2x with the latest version, slot 249, base 56, delete all of the usb loader gx stuff, and be sure to download the latest revision http://sourceforge.net/projects/usbloadergx/files/latest/download

If all else fails I would try to see if it's your HDD. If you have a SD card with enough space try playing the games from your SD card and see if it fails. Chances are this is why the games crash.

It could also be any other number of things such as a stub ios, or d2x not installing correctly. I don't use the Wii anymore (own a WiiU) but I remember way back in the day stubbed ios files were causing issues for... some reason or another, I wanna say it was something to do with homebrew? Anyways I deleted all of them. I would try installing d2x on 249,250, and 251, make at least one of them use the alt version just to test everything.

Check your ISO as Jdbye suggested and make sure you have all patches turned off in your loader. Some games detect code patches and won't run.

And how do I do that? Would the uninstall option in the d2x installer work for that purpose or do I need a tool focusing on that?

I think I used dop mii to remove ios files, but I'd try downloading a non-patched original scene dump and see if that helps. Some of the releases are patched or have files removed and that could cause freezing.

don't delete anything if you are not sure what it was or what you are doing.
don't uninstall cios/ios unless you are surely want to remove them permanently, just re-install overwriting them

Deleted USB Loader GX and reinstalled it, reinstalled d2x (v10-rev53-alt) in slots 249, 250 and 251, deleted stub cIOSes 222 and 223 (I tried Dop mii and it didn't work, tried MultiModManager and it seemingly didn't work, so I used the installer's "uninstall cIOS" option), patches weren't tuned off because they weren't on in the first place and... nothing changed. I'm starting to think it's my HDD but I don't want to believe it (I don't want to believe I basically threw like $150 in the trash). Kirby's Epic Yarn is probably a bad dump but I don't know how I'm supposed to accurately tell.

Also, I'm not sure how I'm supposed to play a Wii game off an SD card.

Send help.

E: I looked in the USB Game Compatibility Table (http://wiki.gbatemp.net/wiki/USB_Game_Compatibility_Table) and Rhythm Heaven Fever isn't listed... this really doesn't help. At least Kirby's Epic Yarn is listed as compatible, which reinforces the idea that it might just be a bad dump.

I have both of those games and they work fine for me with USB Loader GX. GameTDB.com has hash values for quite a few games but not RHF so you might just have to rerip it. Kirby's Epic Yarn has MD5 and SHA1 hashes listed you can use: http://www.gametdb.com/Wii/RK5E01

Of course, if you converted the ISOs to WBFS files the hash values won't match.

Honestly, though, which loader you use shouldn't matter as the game doesn't interact with it, only the IOS.

Also, what version of GX are you using specifically? If it doesn't show the revision number in the lower left corner of the screen while it's initializing it's old. You may have the full channel installed instead of just the forwarder and the one in your /apps/ folder won't load.

Sorry for the horribly late reply, but apparently the cause of these issues was a crc error in each game. Redownloading them fixed everything. Sorry for any inconvenience.

God, do I feel stupid, the solution was so clear and simple. Oh well, at least I can finally play these games without interruptions.
