Hacking Re-download games you haven't paid for???

I'm probably late to the party, but while browsing eShop, I've discovered that the games I installed as CIA are available for "re-download", I'm sure it's too good to be true, but I'm currently downloading MH4U as I write this, because why not? This also got me thinking, If I were to transfer my NNID in the future, to a >9.2 system, would I be able to download any games that I "re-download" on the old system?

Lucky you. One of the games I've paid was showing as non purchased after a system transfer.

You can't, it will download the whole thing, then it will try to installsl as normal but your ticket won't match and it will abort the install.

maybe you installed a legit CIA ? the one provided pre-installed on all consoles with a shared ticket, not an unique/tied to the console ticket.

If you install legit CIA, then upgrade your FW to latest - you can redownload them from eShop freely. This works only for legit.

Old news - installing legit CIA's gives you a proper ticket thus allowing you to redownload the games from the eShop at any point like if it came with the console as a pre install, if you format your system the title.db will reset and you won't be able to download anything and no you cannot system transfer the content.

nowadays there is so much people who never read stickies... they even never search for what they need... it should be a BIG RED TITLE on GBATemp Homepage with the legend "BEFORE POSTING, READ STICKIES AND SEARCH FOR WHAT YOU NEED" or something like that...

Yeah, of course any game that you have installed will show up for being redownloaded/repaired inside the CFW.

The download process will only be successful if you have the proper titlekey in your ticket (if the CIA was generated by make_cdn_cia).
If you have installed a CIA generated by makerom then it will have a random titlekey, which will make the decryption fail and you won't be able to redownload/repair the game.

And they won't get transfered in a system transfer.

then, maybe someone should write a guide to explain what's possible or not with each console versions.
something for newbies who just bought (or will buy) a console and never read any other info on hacking.

like "with 9.2, you can do this" "with 9.3 you can do this, but not that"
downgrade, cfw, emunand, flashcarts, region free, cia, etc.
with explanation on each terms (neophyte don't understand what emunand is)

maybe writing an easy to understand guide with "noob" (as in "first time reading a hacking subject") in mind will prevent noob questions everywhere.
no thread is helping users who never read anything about hacking. all of them just assume everybody already know and understand what they are doing and what's possible.

I wanted to start such a guide, but never have time to do so.
if someone else has courage to help other users, that will be nice of you.

Whoever told you that... Was lying....

You can't even system transfer a legit cia that you legally acquired, let's say you bought a bundle with Mario & Luigi preinstalled, then got another system and you want to system transfer your old content, you can't transfer the legit cia to the new one.

I just wrote that it only works if you get the proper titlekey in the installed ticket. Decryption will obviously fail with a random one.

They will not show up in your download history when you install and delete a legit CIA for example Pokemon Y you can go to the purchase page and instead of saying purchase you can select Re-Download.
