I don't use popsloader. I have never had any issues playing games with the builtin pops. Here is a detailed guide. http://pspguides.exelements.net/popsloader.html some games and firmwares just aren't compatible http://psxeboots.com/pops-compatibility-list with some systems and I wouldnt be able to help without knowing what game you're trying to play and what console.

Just get the complete POPS package and retry - if your buttons are fine, there's no reason for you to be stuck in settings. Perhaps your POPS plugin is borked, I'd reinstall it from a different source.

You only need PopsLoader for certain games, most games will play fine without it. If you have a specific game you want to play you should search it in google and see if anyone else is having the same issue with that game. I would guess Foxi4 is right and you just need to find another popsloader package if you are sure that you need popsloader at all.

I rarely play any PS1 games and when I do I usually try and get the ones from the Sony Store.

You don't "need" anything to play ps1 games on the psp. Just the eboot.pbp and Pro CFW. If the games aren't playing smoothly then try Popsloader plug in.

Thanks, @Foxi4 I don't use PopsLoader so I am not very familiar with it. I only tried to give a hand because no one had got back to OP in a day or two. Have you ever run into the issue he posted? Is it common? That's a pretty old plug in. Probably safe to assume it's a pretty solid one.
